I Must admit I am a bit nervous about tomorrow.

I will arrive at the Jetty, carried by Jenny The Wonder Mule No later then 9 AM... It's not that long of a drive, and if traffic is light, it should be by 8-8:30...

I don't know what to expect.

The Wedding Party will be leaving the Capitol by 8... I'm not sure how the Groom will arrive, but if I know Him, it'll be both Majestic, and Entertaining... For a Deity He's quite a "ham bone"... One of the many things I love about Him.

I haven't lost my faith, Beloved. Though I confess it has been stretched... I think that's part of the process though... bend but don't break...

I am worried that I have not been good enough. Not been True enough. Not been Holy enough, even though I am aware that my character in this production requires hypocrisy, and the "appearance of evil"... Method acting takes a toll on the actor, and I wonder partially did I play the role too well? I must doubt the doubt, and move forward... "Stumble Forward", as Daddy Kingroc sais... Another thing I love about the Groom is... His Grace... I always feel so L-O-V-E-D... though I know love is not a feeling... But any moments we've had together, have been amazing...

I have (much to the chagrin of my wicked care takers), stayed, according to what is written, with my parents... Now it's time to "leave my father and mother and cling to my Husband"... I am filled with nervous apprehensive energy... so this is what the jitters feel like... sure, but unsure. Filled with visions of the future, and dreading the thought of anything standing in the way...

I've been given the most qualified bodyguards, they are Guaranteed to protect this investment for the Master... still I am nervous... BUT NOT SCARED.

I know there will be equal amounts celebration, surprises, entertainment, laughter, music, reunions, and love in abundance... still I am so nervous...

So next time I write, all will be fulfilled... It's seemed like a long time coming, but He's not late...

Am I really saying that? Am I so bold as to declare Kevin Smiths latest offering CLERKS II as prophetic?

A movie that contains a scene where a man has (simulated) sex with a beast of burden, (what the character calls "interspecies erotica") as a spiritual masterpiece!!??!?!??

Why the Heaven NOT?

What makes a man or woman a preacher ? The ability to share the love of Christ is it not? This movie is replete with power of the Word of God. I am thankful that I have been blessed to be able to see through the muck, to the heart of the matter.

If my math is right, this is Smiths 7th film. In his own way, each and every time, he has offered some brilliant political, social, and religious commentary, mixed in with sophomoric dialog, and crass imagery.

The movie Dogma, a film that sent Christians into conniption fits, with out ever bothering to see it, and which hundreds of so-called "believers" came out in mass to protest, was filled with the message of Grace and Truth. Not that they would know this.

See it's simple. Smith is one of the most brilliant evangelists of modern day. YES. He is gross. But he follows the "interspecies erotica" scene, with a full screen printed quote from The Gospel According To Luke.

All I have to say is Christians, this film isn't for you. It wasn't made for you. It was made, to get down on a certain level, entertain, then smack the lost between the eyes with Holy Truth.

The Apostle Paul used coarse language to make his point. As did Christ Himself. I assure you all of several things sisters & brothers. God is neither offended by nor afraid of Kevin Smith's movies... and trust me on this one... Jesus has a terrific sense of humor.

God is not afraid to get his hands dirty, to save someone drowning in mud...

Paper Permission To Squelch The Revolution

Sisters and Brothers... our fearless "leader" has signed into Law a bill on the 17th of October, that is entitled the Military Commissions Act of 2006.

This "Act provides for controversial practices relating to the US government's detention and treatment of unlawful combatants."

The following is a letter that appeared in the Provo Daily Herald: (emphasis mine)

Does no one realize what the Military Commissions Act of 2006 did? It took away habeas corpus (the right to have a trial.) It allows the presidency (any presidency) to arrest anyone (even Americans) as "an enemy combatant" and hold them forever without trial.

That would be almost acceptable in a terrible time of war if they also didn't give the presidency the ability to determine who is an enemy combatant. This combination makes it so that the president can arrest anyone, at anytime, for whatever reason, hold them forever, torture them, and never have to show anyone why they did it.

On Sept. 11 I was sad, shocked, depressed, angry, but never scared. I am now, but not from foreigners. It is acts like these bills that will make us lose this war on terror, not random murders.

To deprive Americans of their basic inalienable rights, to lose sight of everything that America has stood for, bled for, and died for does more damage than any invader could ever do with any weapon.

We all want the bomb
Following the end of the second world war, the US began a series of tests at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. As well as finding out more about the weapons themselves, the tests also looked at things like the effects on personnel and equipment and whether troops could continue to fight after a nuclear bomb had been used. Other countries were soon pushing to join the nuclear club as the Soviet Union (1949 in Kazakhstan), Britain (1952 in Australia), France (1960 in the Algerian desert) and China (1964 in Lop Nor) carried out their first nuclear weapons test. Each country carried out a series of tests, most of which took place out in the open although a few were conducted underground.

Eventually all US testing was moved to the Nevada desert. After increased protests from the Australian public, British testing was moved to Christmas Island in the Pacific until 1962 when they also transferred to the Nevada site. Following the independence of Algeria in 1962, France established test sites at Mururoa and Fangataufa Atolls in the Pacific Ocean.

(A ball of fire, steam, and smoke rose from Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands after the United States tested an atomic bomb there in 1950. Naval ships in the water near the site were dwarfed by the enormous impact of the bomb. from Encarta)

Bush said he had called the leaders of South Korea, China, Russia and Japan and all had reaffirmed a commitment to a nuclear-free Korean peninsula. China and Russia are permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, along with Britain, France and the United States.

In a brief statement in the diplomatic reception room of the White House, Bush said that North Korea already was "one of the world's leading proliferators" of missile technology, including transfers to Iran and Syria.

"The transfer of nuclear weapons or material by North Korea to states or non-state entities would be considered a grave threat to the United States," Bush said. "And we would hold North Korea fully accountable for the consequences of such action."

Weren't Russia, Japan, Germany, and China, all our "enemies" at one juncture? Wasn't it the Chinese who fought with North Korea, against U.S., in the Korean "Conflict"?

Still, he said, "such a claim itself constitutes a threat to international peace and security. The United States condemns this provocative act."

House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., issued a statement denouncing North Korea's action as "the desperate act of a criminal regime" and said the House would support Bush and the international community in condemning that country's "reckless decision."

In New York, John Bolton, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said the United States would move quickly to seek a Security Council resolution condemning and possibly sanctioning North Korea.

"We've been working very, very closely with the government of Japan on this," Bolton said. "We're looking, as the president said in his comments, for very swift action by the Security Council. We think it's important to respond to even a claim of a nuclear test by the North Koreans."

Earlier, White House spokesman Tony Snow said the North Koreans gave the Chinese a heads-up on the test on Sunday. The Chinese then notified the U.S. embassy in Beijing, which passed the word to other U.S. officials, Snow said.

Hadley, the national security adviser, notified President Bush around 10 p.m. EDT, Snow said. South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported that the suspected test was conducted at 9:36 p.m. EDT Sunday.

Snow declined to speculate on a possible U.S. response to a North Korean nuclear test. "At this point we're still assessing the data," he said.

Asked whether he knew of any plans for a military response, Snow said "no."

At least two U.S. officials sought to play down the size and sophistication of the explosion.

One intelligence official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said U.S. intelligence agencies detected an explosive event in North Korea with a force of less than a kiloton. Historically, the types of devices used in initial nuclear tests have yielded several kilotons of force. One kiloton is defined as the energy produced in an explosion of 1,000 tons of TNT.

SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea said Monday it has performed its first-ever nuclear weapons test.

U.S. and South Korean officials could not immediately confirm the report.

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency said the underground test was performed successfully and there was no radioactive leakage from the site.

South Korean intelligence officials said a seismic wave of magnitude-3.58 had been detected in North Hamkyung province, according to Yonhap. It said the test was conducted at 10:36 a.m. (9:36 p.m. EDT Sunday) in Hwaderi near Kilju city on the northeast coast, citing defense officials.

North Korean scientists “successfully conducted an underground nuclear test under secure conditions,” the KCNA report said, adding this was “a stirring time when all the people of the country are making a great leap forward in the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation.”

The director of South Korea’s monitoring center that is watching for a test with sound and seismic detectors declined to immediately comment on the reported test.

“We don’t know whether it is a nuclear test or not,” an official at the earthquake center at the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources said on condition of anonymity, citing the sensitive nature of the issue.

The U.S. Geological Survey said it had detected no seismic activity in North Korea, although it was not clear whether a blast would be strong enough for its sensors.

The North said last week it would conduct a test, sparking regional concern and frantic diplomatic efforts aimed at dissuading Pyongyang from such a move. North Korea has long claimed to have nuclear weapons, but had never before performed a known test to prove its arsenal.

“The nuclear test is a historic event that brought happiness to our military and people,” KCNA said. “The nuclear test will contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the Korean peninsula and surrounding region.”

On Sunday night, U.S. government officials said a wide range of agencies were looking into the report of the nuclear test, which officials were taking seriously.

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun has convened a meeting of security advisers over the issue, Yonhap reported, and intelligence over the test has been exchanged between concerned countries.

Kyodo News agency reported that the Japanese government has set up a taskforce in response to reports of the test.

The North has refused for a year to attend international talks aimed at persuading it to disarm. The country pulled out of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty in 2003 after U.S. officials accused it of a secret nuclear program, allegedly violating an earlier nuclear pact between Washington and Pyongyang.

Speculation over a possible North Korean test arose earlier this year after U.S. and Japanese reports cited suspicious activity at a suspected underground test site.This breaking news story will be updated.

Six world powers agree to discuss Iran sanctions

LONDON- Top diplomats from six world powers agreed Friday to discuss possible sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program but shied away from demanding that Tehran be punished by the U.N. Security Council.

The United States, Britan, France, Germany, China and Russia said in a joint statement after talks that they were "deeply disappointed" by Tehrans refusal to suspend uranium enrichment, a key step toward making nuclear weapons.

Apparently divided about how quickly to move, the powers stopped short of declaring European negotiations with Iran a failier, however, as as some had expected them to do.

U.N urges N. Korea to cancel nuclear test

UNITED NATIONS- With speculation mounting of a North Korean nuclear test as early as this weekend, a unanimous U.N. Security Council
urged the secretive, communist nation Friday to abandon all atomic weapons as it promised last year and cancel plans to detonate a device. Japan hinted the North could face sanctions or possible military action.
A statement adopted by the council expresses "deep concern" over North Koreas announcement that it planned a test - which would confirm strong suspicions it is a nuclear power- and warns Pyongyang of unspecified concequences if it carries through. The message also urges the North to return to six-party talks on scraping its nuclearweapons program.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh says the recent accord signed by India and the United States to access civilian nuclear technology is not a military alliance aimed against China.

More then 80 infants die each day in Dafur

Bloody week in Nigeria spotlights security lapses

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria- Attack helicoptors battled speedboats full of armed fighters for control of key oil installations. Seven foreigners were abducted from a residential compund, and militants claimed dozens of soldiers were killed.
Even by the standards of Nigeria's oil-rich southern delta region it has been a bloody week.
"There is no rule of law here. The AK47 rules," sais Anyakwee Nsirimovo, a human rights lawer based in Rivers state, which has been worst hit by the violence.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka- Heavy clashes broke out between government troops and Tamil Tiger rebels in Sri Lanka's volatile north and east, killing a large number of insurgents and wounding at least six soldiers, the military said Friday.
The fighting, which each side denied initiating, came a day after the government said it was ready to resume stalled peace talks with Tamil rebels later this month.
Nordic cease-fire monitors said the clashes put the talks in "jeopardy."

Here is a television show I really can seek my rotting teeth into...

Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, put together by one of the sharpest tools in the shed. Not only is it based loosly on backstage goings on of NBC's 32 Season run sketch comdey show SNL, which I have both loved and hated over the years of viewing. But it is a show with both incredible writing and acting by veterens in the industry, and at least somewhat lets us "in", on the inner workings of the battle between studio execs and creative types...

It addresses the issues seen backstage at SNL like inferior writers ensconsed and unmovable, churning out bad sketch, while the cast and audience suffer together to stay loyal to a show they love... I relate with this, as a fan of Saturday Night Live. I faithfully have tuned in to SNL year after year but often I am hurt with weekly infedelity of drivel...

But beyond what the show appears to be on the surface, this is a program that confronts hypocrocy in 'Christiandom', in Politics, in Television, and in Human Beings... With razor precision, the writers deftly go between Matt Albie's disdane for Religion, and his former lover Hariet Hayes' unbridled faith in God.

The cast truely is superb at presenting this "show with in a show", as they travel from the sketch comedy characters they play on Studio 60, to the drama thier "real life" characters must face, to work and be sucsessful in this 'dog eat dog' industry.

The show is a drama, that with the aide of great dialogue, makes me laugh. I have seen two of the episodes this season, and both have made me think, cheer, and cry...

But more then that, I have been moved by the Spiritual undertones of the show. How Sarah Paulson's character, maintains sanity with great faith, and how that faith is answered, week after week, with tiny little evidences, that the cast and crew can't help but notice.

It's one of those shows that Christians could love... that is if they could get past the constant "Christian bashing" going on... Unfortuanatly most Christians probably are offended by a show like this, and never stop judging long enough to notice that Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip is a show that sings praises to Jesus... Christians are like that... throw the baby out with the baptismal water... Unless the show is Touched By An Angel, they can't get behind it... This is the case with Wonderfalls, a perfectly charming and funny show, that weekly showed (in my estimation) the hand of Providence... The show was killed after 13 episodes... Christians would have a hard time with Wonderfalls, because the story is set in a Bar & Grill, and one of the main characters was a lesbian... Despite the fact that in each episode, the Joan of Arc type play, lead to the glory of God... (Jesus frequented Bars daily, but that's besides the point)

Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip lost 32% of viewership from Pilot to episode 2... The buzz was high, and now the show is doomed to wash out of the prime time line up, and be replaced mid season... The show cost 3 million per episode to make, and if people wont watch, or foolish "Christians" comment on the show in a negative light, advertisers will pull out, and it will go in the "Remember that show they tried to make" category...

The saddest thing is that the Tina Fey/Alec Baldwin show 30 Rock which is very similar in design to Studio 60, but is a comedy they are calling "bold" will probably stick around for 11 years... audiences just want debased slapstick, not thought provoking Spiritual drama...

Maybe it's not the audience at all... Maybe, just maybe... the studio(s) want us to have the debased laugh tracked sitcoms, and not the shows that inspire us... after all, on the NBC website, the links are all in place for 30 Rock, (which hasn't even aired yet)... but the most of links for Studio 60, are "Coming Soon"... Just how much of this is planned? We may never know... after all, "Fair is foul and foul is fair."

But watch Studio 60 while you can...

I live in a small rural town, population aprox. 22,839. Not so tiny, but no thriving metropolis either. It is a town made "prosperious" by the government defence contracts held by several area manufactureres, but that is not the point of this article.

I wanted to spend some time writing about small town people, or "Country Folk"...

I spent my fromative years for the most part, in small towns chock full of small townies, and I am surrounded by them now, but I have lived in much larger areas, and this allows for a balanced look at the psyches of my beloved "bumpkins"...

"Hick" is something I never considered myself, even before moving to a bustling city... sometimes I think I am wrong about that... that I am no less "country" then my neigbors, even though I long to be emerssed in cultures and languages...

Cedric The Entertainer said in a recent concert, "Southern White folk and Black folk are the same, they share the same tendencies"... Having spent 5 years of my life with both White and Black folk from the South, while in the US Navy, I would say, as an outside observer, that is true.

I think poor people are the same. We all have the same problems. We all struggle with the same addictions, handed down to us from Madison Avenue. The difference might be Pabst Blue Ribbon vs. Old English 800, but either way, each neigborhood convenience store has a dirt cheep way, for us to stay drunk. It all boils down to which addiction is marketed to which neigborhood. We all struggle with the same problems of abuse. Physical or sexual, or both. We lack father figures, and most of us were raised by single mothers, or grandmothers... and deep down we long for peace that surpasses understanding. Peace that doesn't come in a paycheck, government grant, or even a small community. Sometimes the small town is part of the problem. "Every body knows every bodies bid'ness"... Small town folk can be gossips, as well as hypocrites. Using words as weapons, and keeping a certain "power structure" that gets created in elementry school, and continues on throughout adult hood. Sociologicly speeking, it is a facinating culture to watch. Personaly speeking, it can be painful to be a part of...

See, the schools in small towns are generally inferior in curriculum then larger areas, despite the fewer number of students. Poor people are dumbed down, and most never aspire to achieve greater successes then the local plant manager...

I have been reading alot of blogs lately, and I know there is a tendency broadbrush, with this kind of racial paint. A 'White-wash', if you will.

In americA, White people are in power, this is true. The current system has been set up by White Elite, and so designed that they stay in power, while those "inferior", remain the struggling
and barley making ends meet.

But I think that the tendency of some bloggers, is to miss the fact that poor White people, are in a strikingly similar boat as Blacks and Latinos... the poor stay poor.

I have been the brunt of racism my entire life. I have seen the innerworkings of it, and have felt the ugly sting of it's hate filled words... But I know that the problems facing us are much bigger then ones of racial discord.

Racism is taught to us. Handed down from generation to generation, but is not part of the inherent makeup of Human Nature. Resentment is at the core of hatred. But more on that later.

How different is a "bumpkin" from Northern Utah, then one from Southern Louisianna?
Or the countryside of Ireland, are the "Red Necks" there different from those in Possom Trot Tennesse? We see in films and TV shows, that the Ghettos of LA, are the same as the Ghettos of NY... Poor is poor.

Having been to Mexico, and seeing the huvels that house the good people of that country, I see how prosperous americA really is. The ghetto of North & West Las Vegas are like Beverly Hills compared to homes in Tijuana, and other cities in Mexico.

Save certain cultural differnces, Mexican people are the same the rest of us. Again, poor is poor.

Lest the Middle and Upper-middle class folk, think this statement excludes them because of their tax bracket, don't forget that most of you are living paycheck to paycheck as well, and up to your earlobes in debt... Your morning commute may be in BMW, but this is a shiny, leather upholstered shackle, that has you in bondage, and singing and dancing for the man, just like the rest of us. In some ways the moderately comfortable are worse off then the welfare recipient, because when the bottom drops out, they will not be prepared to deal with having nothing but hunger... Never say Never...

Regardless, of which rung you are gripping on the coporate ladder. Whether you make ends meet with 4 incomes at 2 jobs per person. Or you wait on that paper nipple from the tit of "Uncle Sam", we are all poor, compared with those who are in control.

We are all being programmed to eat, sleep, and think a certain way. We are all on drugs. 99.9% of which, are of the prescription veriety... every other TV and radio commercial, every 3rd page in a magazine, is an ad for some new drug, designed to aleviate our woes...

Small town americAns are easily manipulatable, because like discussed earlier, many are uneducated, and lack drive to better the world at large...

My plea is that in the coming days ahead, the poor can wise up enough to see that we are all in this together. That whether you are in South Central Los Angeles, the suburbs of Denver Colorado, the Ozark Mountains, or Battle Creek Michigan, we are all fodder for the machine. That trivial things like racial strife, is used by the Elite to keep us hopping mad, and unprepared for what they are serving us next.

This is not the only country destined to be reorganized, but evey country on every continent... This is war. War for the mind.

So goes the dialogue in the excting 1998 action movie called Enemy Of The State, staring Will Smith and Gene Hackman. My late night movie, last night. The above quote is apropriate, because I may be bitting off more then I can chew with this post.

This is an amazing movie. Startling for several reasons... namely, the amount of information reveiled in this pre-9/11 action epic. This is a political thriller, that slates the NSA against an unknowing pawn in a desperate game, to stop the leak of the true identity of a congressmans murderer. I will be giving plot details here, unlike other posts I've writen on films, but there is no way for me to reviel all this film is about...

"Congressman Phillip Hammersley(Jason Robards): Telecommunications Security and Privacy Act. Invasion of privacy is more like it."

The congressman is resisting pressure from those who want a certain bill passed... After he has refused their bribes, and stood up to coercion,("Congressman Phillip Hammersley(Robards): Are you blackmailing me, you ambitious shit?") he is killed, by needle full of traquilizer behind the ear, placed in his car with planted drugs, and sunk in a pond... it looks like an overdose/heart attack... untill a tape of the murder turns up...

the rest of the movie, is a high speed chase by the National Security Agncy of a man unknowigly slipped the tape, played by Will Smith. what is revieled in this movie is the capability that the NSA holds to destroy the lives of any americAn so chosen, for what ever reason. Credit cards, newspaper articles, falsified video footage and photo stills, are all used to discredit this witness, should the tape ever surface... but the deeds they perform to keep the evedence secret, are an abomination.

Satellite surveilence, hidden cameras, tracking devices in clothing, agents undercover, filming and taping in public places... the ability to contact any department(ie Transportation Dept) to get instant access to camera feeds... Fake Police badges, the list goes on...

One of the Congressmen trying to pass this bill, smiling for the cameras, and blowing smoke up americAs behinds:

"Congressman Sam Albert(Stuart Wilson II): [On TV] We knew that we had to monitor our enemies. We've also come to realise that we need to monitor the people who are monitoring them..."

Does this dialogue sound hauntingly familiure to anyone? Did this Screen Writer take a job as Bush speech writer? Or was he pre-employed, to ready us for our cumupins?

This is a very sharply writen film. In response to the above quote:
"Carla Dean(Regina King): Well who's gonna monitor the monitors of the monitors."

This movie is a prime example of predictive programming which you can read more about HERE
Predictive Programming is used by the Elite, to prepair the unwashed masses for "what" is coming. It has been used for thousands of years, but movies are the best way to ready the sleepy sheepeoples... I saw this film in theater back in 1998, and I knew it was more then just good script writing, but I didn't know why... When former NSA man Brill(Hackman), is getting ID on the murderer Thomas Reynolds, played by Jon Voight, he reads the birth day of the character which happens to be 9/11.../1940... coincidence... perhaps...

In my estimation, the message of this film is, don't fuck with the NSA... though they are the movies antagonists, and are made to look somewhat foolish in the end, through out the movie, the stealth, and cunning is demonstrated with no appologies... These people mean buisness, and they have the tools for the trade... they even keep other agencies in the dark, by falcifying FBI authorization on this illegal search and destroy mission...

Meanwhile the politicos are "playing politics" with the press, prompting Deans wife to respond with:

Of course, COINTELPRO, went unchecked for 2 decades... Abbie Hoffman, with the help of a journalist, alerted some americAns to the practice, which was then downplayed, and made to look go away... but not untill the Reagan Adminisration...

After the "terrorist attacks" of 9/11, americAns were forced to deal with the USA Patriot Act... which makes COINTELPRO seem like tucking us in for a bed time story...

They are listening, they are watching, they are planning, and plotting...

I was suprised to see how much they actualy tell us in this movie...

"Brill: The government's been in bed with the entire telecommunications industry since the forties. They've infected everything.
Brill: They get into your bank statements, computer files, email, listen to your phone calls... Every wire, every airwave. The more technology used, the easier it is for them to keep tabs on you.
Brill: It's a brave new world out there. At least it better be. "

Since the esablishment of the NSA, the FBI, the CIA, ATF, and any other 3 initial agancies created, the people of the world have been targets for control. With the aerosolized Prozac, and other mind control agents in our air, water, and 'food' products, we are falling in line for the next Big Idea, which is really the same New Deal, that was conceived way back when... they have not deviated from the plan...

As an official Lab Rat, I can assure you of this fact.

By a weird coincidence, after posting about the NON SHOWING of Idlewild in Utah, it appeared at ONE theater for a short two day run...

On Tuesday morning I happened upon the Moviefone website, typed in Idlewild, and saw that it would be replacing World Trade Center for 2 matinée performances, and 2 evening showings, on Tuesday and Wednesday. I rushed over and got my ticket for the 4pm matinée, and when I showed up, I was not suprised to be greeted with World Trade Center.

After the HeyouzgotzthuhwrongfilmAplayin dance, It was explained to me that the movie had arrived, but had yet to "built" (the film comes on 3 reels, and must be put together on one reel), and was awarded two free passes for any of the upcomming showings... plus, I could stay and watch World Trade Center(which I may discuss in future political postings)...

I opted to come back the following evening, and see the very last showing of Idlewild. I was disappointed for several reasons:

It was the closed caption version, for the hearing impared. Which means that there were these yellowish english subtitles through out the film, and not only did they distract me from the performances, they were barely readable at times... If I was hearing impared I would have been pissed... had I not been the ONLY person in the theater, I would have commizerated with someone on this fact...

Then, the sound was not THX, or even dolby... the auditorium I was in, was equiped the latest digital technology, speakers all around the room... Idlewild, a musical, was playing through the two front speakers only, and not very loudly... I must say the impact of Outkasts music was greatly deminished, like listening to Pink Floyd's The Wall on a scratchy AM radio station... You can't turn away, but you have to grit your teeth to make it to the last number...

Maybe they figure the deaf need no THX...

Though Idlewild did make a momentary appearence in Utah County, I must say it was made to feel most unwelcome. I got "lucky" in even discovering it's arrival... There was no promotion, save the Moviefone website, and the recording on the phone at the theater... when I bought my ticket the first day, the girl at the window had no idea what I was talking about, and I got the same look from the guy who tears the tickets... both had to check a sheet to find that the movie was even in the house. That is seriously insulting to the makers of the film. Most folks look in the paper for showtimes, and it was not listed... again, I was alone both times I was there to watch Idlewild... Carmike theaters get a D-, in race relations...

As for the movie I will attempt to grade as if I had seen it in it's glory...

This is very creative film. It has never been done. The story about two child hood friends, who grow up to be performers, while not entirely unique (33 possible plot lines available for script writters), was made original thru the sub plots. I hate those guys that tell the entire story of a movie in review... after reading it, you don't need to go to the movie cuz you know the ending... I don't do that here at GROOVE DAMAGE. I am not a critic. Just someone who tries to promote what is noble, lovely, and pure... as pure as anything media can be in this corrupt hayride called life.

I would encourage you to see this film, even if it must be on DVD. The animation sequences were less 'spectacular spectacular' then Moulon Rouge... but the story is less grandious too... this is a bittersweet tale, that is told in a very entertaiining and creative way. If I had one critique, it would be from the perspective a writer... the lyrics to some of the songs were out of place for a film set in 1935. Luther Vandross was mentioned, also R-O-L-A-I-D-S... maybe they had rolaids in '35, but I see the Luther reference as small tribute, which is cool, but slightly out of place. Beyond that, Idlewild was masterfully transportive to that time and place.

I know that some could say that here's a movie, that has an all black cast, and there had to be whores, and gangsters, and shootings... I would say, okay... there ARE juke joint characters in this film. But the pay off is the Spirituality that is inherent. The hand of Providence is shown in this film, and that is so amazing, I can't help but to cry. BB King will tell you why he sings the blues, and he's right... But Outkast, in very subtle yet powerful way, will tell you why they praise...

The Lost Crowes Join Hands

Where do I start? How do I describe this new yet old, trusty as a Ford Truck, sweeter than a sugar beet, more soulful than a plate full of ham hocks and greens, rock 'n' roll?

How do I at GROOVE DAMAGE, not repeat what has been said already, and deliver a review that will make you wanna go get these albums?

I know that if you did so grace your CD player with these nuggets of musical history, you would not only come down with a case of what has been described as "Rockin' pneumonia, and the Boogie Woogie Flu", you would most assuredly thank me for having shared with you this life changing music...

Weeeell... perhaps I am a bit melodramatic... I know not everyone is blessed with the musical ears to L-O-V-E this band the way I do... some of you casual passers by, may fancy that musical fare that could be heard on your average Top 40 Radio Station, comes in a skimpy out fit, and is 2/3 Boob Job, 1/3 computer music... Okay...

Maybe it's you folks I will try to reach...

The Black Crowes are not a "perfect" band... Why, on the single 'Soul Singing', Vox Man Chris Robinson, is slightly off pitch... His vocal delivery is not spot on. This may cause some with perfect pitch, to have the hairs on the back of their necks stand up... Now... it's just slightly off... nothing they couldn't have fixed with a "Brittneyizer"... but they,(they being the Crowes, and Crew) would never touch that dreaded piece of equipment(which was developed for GOOD singers, who, may have one or two notes a-stray, in an otherwise perfect performance... a polishing tool, that in recent years has become FAR too over used, to make the plastic people palatable...)... No what you have on a track like 'Soul Singing' is a "PERFECT-ly Real, and Powerful Performance"... one with so much passion and soul, that a slight pitch variation from C.R., goes on tape, and subsequently, goes out to rock our proverbial socks off... It's such a good song, I am getting chills just hearing it in my head...

The Crowes, are not a perfect band. However, warts and all, they are MY perfect band... The kind of band, that when things are clicking, and all members are grooving, you have nothing short of Holy Revival on stage... they are band that is about spirit, and community, and L to the O to the V to the E... you can hear it in every note.

Which is why live is the way to hear them best... The Black Crowes are a band that encourage Taping of their shows... trading of the tapes... because each and every night they play, they play differently... a different set, new solos, and songs in a different way... You could call them throw backs to the bands of the late 60's and Early 70's... ala The Greatful Dead, The Faces, The Stones, and The Band... Groups that amassed loyal followers, because of the spontaneity, and creativity... But calling them that is selling their own creativity and soul short... They had IT... what ever "IT" is... They parted ways in 2002...

However, after a five or six year split, they are back on the road, doing what they do best... only now, due to fresh air, less chemicals, and more personal boundries, they are doing it better!

The 2006 tour called "All Join Hands", was captured on a two disc set... well, not the whole tour of course... just three or so, magical nights on stage in Frisco, at the legendary Fillmore Ballroom...
The subsequent album, "Freak 'N' Roll... Into The Fog The Black Crowes All Join Hands The Fillmore, San Francisco"(say that title 5 times fast), is some of the best live recording I have heard, (and as a fan of legendary live albums like "Band Of Gypsy's", "Live Bullet", "Nine Tonight", "American By Birth... Southern By The Grace Of God", and "Alive", this is a bold statement...) I think it's better than any I have heard... Heavens To Betsey, I KNOW it is!!

The reason, is the band... There is so much magic emanating from this disc... the band, near wholy reunited with the quintessential players, Marc Ford, Steve Gorman, & Ed Harsch, joining The Brothers Robinson, (the missing muscle of Johnny Colt, being aptly replaced with the mighty Sven Pipien, who played Bass on the Columbia release By Your Side). Not these five alone, but two powerhouse back up vocalists(Charrity White & Mona Lisa Young), and the Left Coast Horns... 12 members, making music that is beyond compaire...

I have seen them 4 mind blowing times... Yet, I have never seen them like they sound on this disc, and it's no trick... They are just ripening with age like fine Merlot... This album can be picked up at {hik} Wal-Mart, for $9.99... (I payed $17.99 at Border's... and it's worth every penny to me... but if the "Fallen Price" will get the tunes in your life, I say go to see "Sam", and get this album)... For Rock's Sake...

Also fresh out the shoot, is the double disc called "The Lost Crowes". Which is the compilation of two previously shelved (unreleased) albums called "TALL", and "Band", respectively. What can I say about the this double disc? For fans of the Crowes, it contains much familiar music... as many of these tracks became the Seminal album "Amorica". The album "TALL" was recorded after 3 Snakes & 1 Charm album... so both these discs find the band in their heyday... It is interesting to hear some of these tracks in this much rawer form... many of the vocal tracks were scratch track quality... Robinson, enunciating more clearly then on Amorica, but with less verve, and less of the passion, that makes Amorica most fans fav disc... A notable tune called "If It Ever Stops Raining" appears on TALL, is note for note the title cut for 'By Your Side', save the chorus, which was changed... I love the "By Your Side" version the best... but I am loving the difference... It is a great song, both ways. My favorite cut is "Feathers", a ballsy, bluesy, sexy, slow soul ballad the way God intended it to be... The Black Crowes at their all time best... I can't wait to hear this song live...

So, I realize that this post constitutes true Black Crowes Geekdom on my part... if you made it thru to the end you are brave, and I appreciate you!

If you have not spent quality time with The Black Crowes before... I envy your discovery, and excitment of new found love... this band will grow on you like a fungus... eat some fungus... load your fave bong... and Kick the Tires on this Tour Bus...

IDLEWILD: missing from Utah Theaters

I was extreemly excited to attend the opening of Idlewild here in Utah. After it's release, I checked on showtimes, which turned out to be a bit of a Gooose Chase... I live in Utah County, and of all the possible theaters it could have been showing at, not one single movie house, not one major theater chain, was showing Idlewild.

Now, granted... They say Provo Utah is the most conservative city in America. Home to The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saint's, Brigham Young University.

Provo, and surrounding towns are very staunch "Mormon" areas... so I figure this is the logic for local showhouses not screening the film, which contains nudity and violence... NO problem... I'll just go North a bit, and catch it in the slightly more liberal Salt Lake County (ironically so, as Salt Lake City is the home of the Hedquarters of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints... But, it is a large Metro area, and tends to be a little "hipper" than the lower half of Northern Utah)... So when I went on-line to check for showtimes, I was appauled to find this cutting edge "Black" film, showing at ONLY one location in Sandy Utah, The Jordan Commons...

By the time I got around to attending, I drove an hour north to see the film that I am excited to finally have made by a major studio. A big budget period piece musical, with fantasy sequence ala 'Moulon Rouge', featuring an all Black cast... A Milestone, non-"ghetto", non "gangsta" film, one that allows artists like Outkast to show their talent, and creativity...

When I arived in SLC, I grabed a City Weekly, only to find the film missing from listings...

Now it had only been a week or so... but the one location, was now Idlewild free...

Superman Returns, is still on the screens here... Months after it's release... Other movies that were national blockbusters, like The Devil Wears Prada, are showing at the dollar movie houses, doing big buisness in the second run...

But here is a brand new movie, gone before it started... Absent from second run, bargain showhouses... even the very "liberal" art house cinema plex, home to Salt Lake Film Society, known as "The Broadway", was not showing this movie...

It vanished, like a Black Man at Clan rally...

I expected to see the print of the Film hanging from the court house tree, like "Strange Fruit"...

Why UTAH... WHY?!?

After the The President of The Church gave a Divinley Ordained Speech, stating, "Racial strife still lifts its ugly head. I am advised that even right here among us there is some of this. I cannot understand how it can be. It seemed to me that we all rejoiced in the 1978 revelation given President Kimball. I was there in the temple at the time that that happened. There was no doubt in my mind or in the minds of my associates that what was revealed was the mind and the will of the Lord.

Now I am told that racial slurs and denigrating remarks are sometimes heard among us. I remind you that no man who makes disparaging remarks concerning those of another race can consider himself a true disciple of Christ. Nor can he consider himself to be in harmony with the teachings of the Church of Christ. How can any man holding the Melchizedek Priesthood arrogantly assume that he is eligible for the priesthood whereas another who lives a righteous life but whose skin is of a different color is ineligible?"

Why are films like Idlewild keept from us in Utah? You may site the violence, and nudity as factors... But I can see a myriad of films containing these elements, with an all white cast...

I know that the African-American poulation is growing in Zion, why is it still so hard for the good folks of Utah to accept, and embrace people of color? Why aren't we made to feel comfortable in public places...where can Black Folk see movies that show the reality of kissing, and relating to each other in a non-drive by way?

Things must change!

I wanted to take a moment and point out that any time a member of the media sais anything negitive, no matter how thought provoking, and inherently TRUE it may be, about his or her profession, they are quickly devoured by the press... This is akin to Sharks, feeding greedily on a fellow shark with a bloody nose...

The Nose Bleed I am refering to is Aaron Sorkin. The following is fromSFGATE.COM

"--Aaron Sorkin, the acclaimed wordsmith behind "The West Wing" and the upcoming "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," was left wishing Friday he could reclaim one public remark.

"I do think television is a terribly influential part of this country and when things that are very mean-spirited and voyeuristic go on TV, I think it's bad crack in the schoolyard," Sorkin told a meeting of the Television Critics Association.

He paused briefly, then asked: "Why did I use that word?"

In 2001, Sorkin was arrested at a Southern California airport and charged with possession of cocaine, mushrooms and marijuana. He entered a drug treatment program after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor and two felony counts.

Later in the news conference, a rueful Sorkin jokingly said he would pay $100 to avoid seeing his comment in the media. There were as many as 200 reporters in the room.--"

Do you see how the truth (of the meat) of his comment goes unnoticed, by posting his rap sheet. The impact of his sentiment was completely deflected, with shoddy reporting... Granted... Like Bees, and Horses, Reporters smell fear... Sorkins double take on his use of the word 'crack', was all the press needed to turn it into blood bath. He realized his choice of wording, because of his own failings, would become ammo in the bazookas of the "Entertainment Press", and made the mistake of highlighting it first...

I am reporting on it here, because what he said is true and important. Let me reprint just his statement... "I do think television is a terribly influential part of this country and when things that are very mean-spirited and voyeuristic go on TV, I think it's bad crack in the schoolyard," Sorkin told a meeting of the Television Critics Association.

A responsible journalist, would print this statement, and perhaps corroborate by listing examples of "... very mean-spirited and voyeuristic...TV", instead of mercilessly "poking fun" at his record, and recovery.

Because the man has partied in the past, he is not entitled to comment on current affairs?

Do you see how it became all about the drugs, and how the Truth of his TV critique, most likely goes unnoticed in the mind of the reader?

Even his cohorts on the show, though with good intention I beleive, add to this maylay, by joking further about drugs, (thus leaving the TV commentary to gasp for oxygen in the shaddow of the "more controversial" word)

SFGATE.COM: " --His slip set off a running gag during the news conference to promote the NBC series set behind the scenes of a "Saturday Night Live"-like program. The ensemble cast includes Matthew Perry, Bradley Whitford and Steven Weber.

After one reporter commented that the characters played by Perry and Whitford seemed akin to series executive producers and friends Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme, the actors were asked what it was like playing their bosses.

"I think it's mostly like bad Vicodin in the schoolyard," responded a deadpan Perry.

The former "Friends" star underwent treatment in 1997 for what his publicist called at the time the "early stages of chemical dependency" and which People magazine reported was a Vicodin addiction caused by pain from an accident and dental problems.

Whitford ("The West Wing") had a quick response to Perry's quip.

"I've never wished I had had a drug problem," Whitford said.

Weber was not be left out.

"It's like Excedrin and old cloth diapers in the playground," he said in response to another question.--"

In their good hearted attempts/success, at releiving the pressure/social stigma, they actually aided the press, in killing the original intent of Sorkins comment... Mainly that mean-spirited and voyeristic Television, is as dangerous as Crack, on the mind of youth, perhaps even moreso, as the addiction is stronger, and the dumbing down "HIGH" lasts much longer, than the effects of cocain...

The article does go on to ask why Sorkin made the comment(as if it was so absurd to even THINK such a thought)...

Perhaps this will be one of the handful of shows, that 'Cry Freedom', for the americAn veiwer...

If so, Sorkins 'crack' remark, was indeed a slip... because the finite number of shows that give thinly veiled truth to the public, must fly under the radar, to get made and aired...

The shows like Wonderfalls, ussually don't last very long...

We mustn't let the Media destroy truth, even when it's one of their own, that they are feeding upon... Please be on the alert for these kinds of white-washings, where ever they may occur.

One final thing of note, is it interesting that the drug use is considered 100x more controversial than the distruction of brain cells afforded by Junk Television consumption? Why is it these so-called "Journalists", whom decide what we should focus our attention on?

They are just doing their jobs, I recon... Doing What their BOSSES would want... Making "Good News"...

Granted... it's like my least favorite genre, but don't they ussually save the realease of most of those untill late fall?

I feel it's my duty to inform readers of GROOVE DAMAGE about the best band I have heard in the longest time... WICKED WISDOM!

Though I fancy myself a bit of a wordsmith, I find words to describe this band very difficult to come by... How do I describe this amalgam of musics?!?! They are so far beyond any conventional definition...

Quite frankly, they got the sound they set out to get... TOTALY ORIGINAL!
I came accross WW, when I heard in the "NEWS" that Jada Pinkett-Smith was fronting a rock band... 'Something inside of me' just spang to attention, I knew instictivly without ever hearing one note, that this would soon become one of my all time favorite groups... Not having a huge disposable income, it was not until one evening of latenight channel surfing, some months later, that yeilded the joyful revelation that they would be the musical guest on The Late Night With David Letterman Show... I was ecstatic, and semi patient, as I sat thru Lettermans mediocre comedy bits, and cold fish interveiws, to get the peice de resistance of that evening...

All my expectations were met with a rush of Spirit and Joy as my body longed to create a one-man Mosh Pit in the living room, but wrestled with my eyes, which remained glued to the screen, forcing an internal slam spasm... This is AN AMAZING BAND! They are Virtuosos. They are creating an original Metal soundscape, that is as decidedly progressive, as it is Soulful... The song "Bleed All Over Me" melted my face off...
After the performance,

Dave came out to greet the band, and said to Jada, "you're not messin' around, are you?!?!"... it was the maybe most intellegent thing I have ever heard come out of his mouth... Clearly, they are not messing around. Wicked Wisdom is the REAL DEAL!

Pinkett-Smith's lyrics are deeply insightful, and are at once gritty, with a truly feminine sensibility... I am enamored of the drummer, he is currently my favorite drummer, and today I felt the urge to dig deeper on the band, to get more info...

As I read further on down the Bio, I was even more excited to learn that the drummer of my dreams is in fact, Fish, the founding member of FishBone... A band I had the pleasure to be bowled over by back when I was just a pup of 17... I clicked my heels three times, because in WW I am home!

I hope that women everywhere will be inspired to tune up, plug in and shred on... I am including the lyrics to my favorite song here...

Do yourselves a favor, and get this record... This is one band that will be around for years to come.

Pink has a song that has been out for some time, commenting on the state of young womanhood in americA, and I think it is brilliant. Pink is an artist that I have respected from the time I first heard her song "Don't Let Me Get Me", about how she was her own worst enemy, and how she had to compete with the image of Brittney Spears and her ilk to be a Pop Singer.

Pink is is an insightful young woman, and an excellent lyricist.

I agree that all daughters should be encouraged to see the video for the song, which lampoons the behavior of mindless bimbos, the rediculous body image women are force fed in the mainstream media, and also the methods women go to "acheive" this "success" Pink has proven herself to be far more than a vapid producer driven Pop Princess... We have all heard the phrase 'behind every good man is a good woman'... Maybe you comprehend that, maybe not. For me this means a myriad of things.

For a a great man to have acheived great success in this life, he will have had to have the influence of a good mother. She, will have raised him to respect women, and to understand their tender innner workings. The woman he marries, will be the same kind of woman as dear ol' Mom. His daughters, will be healthy, and well balanced, and they will marry men who, too, have had great moms, and respect women... The cycle perpetuates, and we have a generation or 5, that are right, and noble, and grow old together, and make the world a better place...

I don't know if you're paying attention... but the world is not getting better. Man/Woman relationships are in a shambles. With very few exceptions... as mentioned above, men are not men. This is because women are not women. The art of mother hood is lost, because the the art of woman hood is lost.
I can not pin this strictly to the 'Age Of Aquarius', though it did begin to go extreemly haywire at the advent of the 1960's.

Baby Boomers are the most hypnotized generation in history. Their children 'Generation X', is the angriest, and most dispondent, and even though they can see what's wrong, it is hard to communicate, to rectify... because of the scaring from the faultiest of parenting... I digress a bit. No, it seems the art of Mother hood was lost many generations ago, for each succeeding generation, is more confussed, and in need of saving than the next. The actions of the Parents of the Baby Boomers, led to the so called "revolution", that occured in the 1960's. The television did it's job of causing confussion and discontent. The TV shows of the 1950's had nuclear families, that were lead by fearless "Father['s who] know(s) best". The mother was kind, and a homemaking goddess. Dinner on the table by 5. Martinini and slippers, by the fire at 7... As the Boomers watched these images on TV, but observed the reality in their lives as anything but "Situational Comedic", a resentment grew. This bottled rage, lead to the abandoning of all moral virtues, and the embracing of a sexual deviencey, that caused the number of venereal diseases to grow from 5 known, to 55 known, by 1975, many of which were untreatable.

Furthermore, it lead to a host of unwanted offspring, who were raised in some kind of a shadow of a family. Either the Mother was single and had to work to provide. Or she was "strong" and chose to to have a career in liu of staying home and raising the children. Either way, much essential nurturing was absent from the life of the aptly named Generation X.

Feminism. Is it just another "ism"? Just one more thing for "Libs" to rally behind? Cry out about as another injustice, though not truely a problem, because of 'so and so', or 'this person' or 'that one'? The oppinion of Limbaugh, Hannity, and their species asside... Women are abused.

The way women are oppressed and treated throughout the world is abhorable. Men run the show, and do so often with an iron fist. It is hard for me to speak intellegently on social issues in other countries, as I have no experience in world travel and observation. But for 35 years, I have been here, in americA, and I have witnessed and experienced first hand, racism, sexism, and oppression.

OK... So aside from a few religious zealots, men do not force women in americA to walk 5 paces behind, cover their faces, ect... No, women in the Good Ol' U.S. of A, are oppressed in a much different way... They are encouraged to be "strong". I have watched with my own eyes, and heard with my own ears, how girls are raised by this culture, to be "Barbie dolls".

I just want be to clear, I do not intend that statement to be all incompassing. Obviously there are young women, who are Doctors and Lawyers... but it's still my understanding that proffesional women are payed thousands of dolars less then men in their same feilds...Women of Color, even less... I will touch on this and similar aspects within the balloon of feminism (or feminist issues)... However, many women who have strived to become members of the upper middle class, most likely, do not fit in with the women I am seeking to adress here... the dumbed down. "The Bunnies". Women who were taught to oppress them selves, with shallow, and vain thought processes. Women who attain to a physical ideal, rather then a strong moral character. Women "educated" and "raised" by the Evil Step Mothers who edit and print toilet paper like Cosmopolitan, Vouge, and [insert magazine title here]. Women suckled at the venomous tit of unhealthy roll models like the characters on Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, The OC, Deperate Houswives, ad nausium... To get there, we must first look at the source of a womans power:

"Look at my eyes when you talk to me buddy"... How exhasted women become at being oogled, and undressed by mens wandering eyes.

I ask you, though.... do women realize the power they yeild in thier bras? I know that from time to time, every woman has used her 'feminine wiles' to allure men. But what is it about that power?

Whom among us, has not seen women work men into a frenzy. What woman, has not used her wiles to manipulate men, and other women...
The thing that bothers me about it is not that women have this power. It's the abuse of that power. In other words having the ability to control men is not sinnful, necessarily... as all women have this gift. It's the act of control that becomes wrong. I am not necessarily talking about the medias manipulation of consumers thru the images of women and the "promise" of sex... though I will get around to that. No I am talking on a human level. At the workplace, for example... when a woman uses her body, (ie; her breasts) to make a man respond in a certain way.

Of course, the breasts alone are not sufficient for complete manipulation... there has to be an unspoken promise that the heaving mammories could be held and fondled, if only one teeny weenie favor will be performed(no pun intended fellas)... The appearence of attraction. She pretends to be into him. He is convinced she really, really likes him... Because she is so good at the game. She may even convince herself that she likes, maybe even loves him...Though in reality the woman despises the man she can manipulate, especialy in a sexual manner.Though, she may not be honest enough to admit it. She may not even know she's actually hating this so called 'object of her affection'.
It's this subconscious contempt that women have for men, that is a major factor in the problem. Of course, no woman hates a man she can truely respect and admire. No, this contempt (natuarly or unnaturaly) comes from the other factor in the in the equation, these aforementioned "men" are no men at all. They are males of the human race, but they are reduced to the very basest of characterisitcs. They are sexual animals. Barley human at all. Struggling, striving, and conniving for that one thing... they do what is necessary to "hit that". The woman is culpibale in this game, through the encouragment of this behavior. By allowing him to "get that". A woman will give up that which is sacred, that which should be guarded and protected, to a man, because she thinks it is what he wants. It is what he wants, but after it is given to him, he becomes something else. Either a sniveling worm, who can be controlled even further thru the tightning of what Tom Robbins calls the 'Vaginal Wrench'. Or a Monster Bully, who uses brute force, to combat the guileful manipulation of the woman. Because any way you slice it, women have this power.

This ability women have to communicate thru pheromonal telepahy is quite astounding. The eyes appear to be the window to her soul... But a girl learns early to project with those peepers. Project into the boy(becomes a man)'s internal fantasy machine. The promise of a new tomorrow. Three point five, and a dog/white picket fence. The naughty nurse. Any image that will make the boy "her's".

Where do women learn that one glance, one motion, one coy little wiggle will give a man mastabatory fodder for what can be years(this is, sadly, not an exageration). Where do they learn it? Their mothers? Grandmothers? Teachers?

Simply put... Females are born with it. Males are born to respond to it. Girls seem know instinctivly "how to open doors with just a smile...". Pretty girls sure, it's like magic... but even women who don't fit the stereotypical "perfect woman" mold, with make up and the right attitude, can make men swoon... Why?

Are women "the weaker sex"... or is that just " the brilliance of [their] plan"?

"EVER LEARNING..."
In fact, women are the stronger of the two sexes. Perhaps not physicaly. But mentally, spiritually, and emotionally... they dominate. They are the supperior communicators, often words need not even be spoken between women... they just "understand". Women are robbed of their power, when they become consumed with anger, jelousy, or any other emotion. A woman who is angry, is one who can be controlled. This control is instilled early in the americAn girl. Seldom can they break free, and become whole. This unspoken, often unrealized contempt for the opposite sex, is bred in the petry dish that is the americAn educational system. Even if there are some teachers who don't subscribe to the curriculum of confussion and misinformation, it is very difficult for them to combat the persuassive power of television, movies, and magazines. MTV churns out 14 your old "Divas", by the truck load.

A WOMAN'S PLACE IS IN THE MALL
This is one of a myriad of lies fed to women in our culture. Most women I know, love to shop... sure! There is a zen aspect to it, right? Or... are we merely conditioned to go out, and do this because it's who "they say we are"? I beleive this evolved from the womans natural nurturing instict, to provide the comfort zone of the household... more on this, and the manipulation of advertisers, later.

"BURN YOUR BRA!"

The Feminist Movement, that gained momentum in the 1960's served to do more harm than good. Equal rights? I beleive that a man should get paid to do a "man's job". The ERA movemnet, did a good job of at least pointing out the fact, that regardless of the wording of our beautiful Constituion, "...all men are [NOT] created equal".

While a woman, is a member of "mankind"( gender specific language, Girls... sorry), she is not a man.

No, in my ecconomy, to be equal with man, is to be an inferior woman.

Because it is the female, that yeilds real power.

The lie that is "A Woman's Right To Choose", is strait from the pit of Hell. For it is woman's unique ability to grow life inside her body, that makes her supperior to men. Granted. It's the RARE occation, that this can occur, with out sperm from a male... However, no male, unaided by constant "medical enhancement"(ie hormone therapy), could grow a child inside his body. There still would be no womb. And the child would have to be delivered via "C" section, because no man has a birth canal... I read recently that it would be possible... but I doubt it. (Sting said "I never saw a 'miricle of science' that didn't go from a blessing to a curse..." ) It would be disaster.

No. Woman alone, has the ability to carry, and continue the species... By encouraging a woman to terminate a pregnency, you are asking her to violate her very nature... her very NURTURE... essentially ripping out, one of her unique, and magnificantly supperior qualities. I always related to the Christian bumpersticker that said "Abortion: One Dead, One Wounded".

You have to allow yourself to be seriously deluded, to beleive that the child withnin the womb of a woman, is not a human being. If it's not a human at conception, what kind of being is it? Unfortuanatly, even the very intellegent, and educated, suspend the facts, to promote that agenda. The only choice a woman should make is give the child a home with her, or give the child a home to adoptive parents.

I don't know one woman who has undergone an abortion proceedure, who was not seriously affected, and deeply disturbed by it. Often times, an abortion will "kill" a woman's "heart"... making her angry and bitter.

To kill anything, save perhaps, in protection of offspring, is very "unwomanly".

That's the point of the doctorine of "Choice"... to make woman, less woman. to make her, like man. To rob her of her God given power...

It is safe to say that abortion is the ultimate in oppression of woman. And so called "powerful women", like Helen Gurly Brown, who "empowered" young women to "take control of their bodies", by taking multiple partners, and using abortion as birth control, served as Evil Schoolmasters, brainwashing girls into thinking that wrong is right, and that denial of true self is "power"...

Every movie and television actress, is "encouraged" to "enhance her profile"... Models, Correspondents, and women in every aspect of the entertainment industry, are more real, if their tits are fake. We are bombarded with the female form. It used to sell everything, from products to movie tickets,(films gots dem babes)...

The contrasting images, serve to delude young women... the constant barage of half naked females, lead young (would-be) ladies to beleive that their sexual prowess is her true power... to beleive that the more skin she shows, the more power she has. The fashon industry has responded, by designing skimpier and skimpier clothing... the less fabric, the higher the price tag... the more flesh revealed, the bigger the trend... on it goes.

I wonder what the fashon industry would do, if women simply rebeled. If they exercized their "right to choose", by buying modest, fashons, that covered their flesh, instead of diplaying it like meat in glass case. If they put those thousands of dollars spent on breast augmantation, face lifts, and other "Nip/Tuck" procedures, toward the expanding of their minds.

If books on Philosophy and Spirituality were read by teen girls, instead of Magazines that promote sickening and distorted images of women... Give tips on "how to cheat on your man with out him knowing", and advertisments promising "true beauty" through the use of cosmetics and perfumes.

If only our pre-teen girls could learn that it's much sexier 'to conceal than reveal'. That the way to a mans heart is through his intellect. That respect of self is the most important thing, and everything else will fall neatly into place, if she is centered, and living and thinking the right way.

The journey must begin within, to change that which is without. I know that no woman, that took the time to sit in silence, and truley be in the presence of her creator, could ever betray any essential part of her self. For each of us know instinctivly that which is right, but have silenced the voice, thru a series of compromises, that put together, have lead us to the current state of affairs in americA. Woman's betrayal of her own conscience has lead generations of mothers and daughters to destroy the sacred art of true womanhood. Culpable of treason against humanity, by allowing themselves to join in on the plot to illiminate the human woman. On the simplest level... Men aint men, cuz women aint women.

The strength needed for the comming revolution is with in, for no revolution is possible with out the Woman. With out the Child. No woman will be ready for the revolution, unless she learn to transcend anger, resentment, guilfulness, and sexual promiscuity.

Just because something is Law, does not automaticly make it right. Just because a group has apprehended the word "Right", to define their agenda, does not make them so.

ROCK & ROLL!!

I have had the pleasure to screen 3 movies by Actors, who have ventured into the Film Maker category, and all three are excellent.

The Fist one I watched is by former X-Files hunk, David Duchovney, entitled "The House Of D",
after the former "house of Detention", a womans jail facility in Brooklyn, NY. The film is primarily a flash back to Duchovney's characters youth, circa 1973, with his best friend, who is a 40 something "we used to call Retard", played to the rafters by Robin Williams, his mother, played very well by Duchovney's real life wife, Tea' Leoni.( I really understood her character). And a woman who's face he never see's, whom he calls "Lady", who is a resident of the House of D, played masterfully by first time actor, musician, Eryka Badu. Besides director's hat, and his small role in the film, David Duchovney, wrote the screen play. I think the movie was compelling in every way. The characters were deep, and well writen, and every actor gave 150% to their performances... I could tell they beleived in the film, because I beleived their characterizations. Beautifuly filmed, as well.

Next, is a film by Broadway veteran, and star of RENT (both original cast/movie), Anthony Rapp. Add writer/dircetor to his resume. He called his movie "Winter Passing", and it features stellar performances from Ed Harris, Zooey Deschanel, Amelia Warner, and SNL vet Will Farrell. Of all three films this was my favorite(though it is hard to choose), because the character played by Deschanel is so compelling... she is supported by knock out players Harris, and Farrell. Also, because of Rapps Cinemaphotography... it's one of my all time favorite "shot" movies. He really compiled an amazing Film, and I can't wait for his next project.

Lastly, Hollywood superstar Tommy Lee Jones', "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada". Though he did not write the screen play, his directorial debut was masterful. His performance was great too, but he owes alot to the amazing cast, especialy, Berry Pepper, whom I have seen in a handful of films, but I am sure after this, will be seen in alot more prominent rolls... if there is any justice in Hollywood, that is. The story leaves you guessing... it is a wonderful film.

All three films featured tremendously satisfying soundtracks. House Of D, had a beautiful score, and featured excellent choices of 70's era rock.

Winter Passing had the music of the likes of Cat Power, My Morning Jacket, Rapp's own band (who's name escapes me). Not to mention a beautiful piano piece written by Zooey Deschanel. This is a well scored film.

And "The 3 Burials of Melquiades Estrada", "Les rois enterrements de Melchiades Estrada", was beautifully scored with guitar. PS: This film also featured acting performances by well known musicians. County Music legend, Dwight Yokam. And Drummer for the Legendary 'The Band'(vocalist on 'Up On Cripple Creek'), Levon Helm.

You'll notice this post is not so much reviews of the films as a recomendation... I gave very litle plot away... Do yourselves a favor, and see these films if you havent. Let me know what you thought.

America. There is just so much out there to keep us safe from harm. There are anti-bacterial soaps... (even though soap, by it's very definition is anti-bacterial...) There are 100 or more choices for cleaners, disinfectants, and germicides. We're terrified of germs...there's even a disinfectant on the market now, so 'safe you can use it around food'...

Give your steak a good bath in chemicals before you grill it up... That's my motto.

Isn't interesting how in americA, we are deathly afraid of common(even helpful bacteria)... but we consume soda, and fast food, like there is no tomorrow. We use chemicals to "protect us" from salmonila... but the chemicals are known to cause cancer... or worse... We hate insects so much, we use pesticides on our gardens that kill even benificial bugs, upsetting the natural order of nature, not to mention are harmful for people and pets all year round. They use maturing agents on the bannanas at market, because americAns are not patient enough for their fruits to ripen naturally... What is wrong with this picture?

Our food is no longer food. "Vitamins" have to be added. The water from the tap is not safe to drink... But, there is cafeene, and flavor(?) in the bottled water. What else?

We are afraid, and confused. Most of the ingredients in the products we use, and food we eat are unpronouncable and unheard of beyond the label... "For your protection"?

There was a time in my life, that this story might have upset me. The fact that the representitives of Jesus Christ, are so animate in their stance against gay marriage.

I mean, Heterosexuals have done a bang up job with marriage so far.

Let's take a look for a minute at some of these statistics... well... I don't have any for you here... You hear so many conflicting reports...

The reason I chose to write this peice, is because I want to expound on "homsexuals". The concept.

Homosexuals... AKA gay and lesbian, bi-sexual, & transgendered... people.

They are people. I think the ultra right, and at times the medium to centers, forget this fact. We're talking about people here. Labels, for some reason seem necesssary in our language, yet, more often than not, the person or thing becomes the label, ment to discribe it. Personhood is lost, to a "definition".

This statement published by the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which agrees with similar statements from several Protestant denominations, is infuriating to GLBT people. "Who the Hell are these "so-called" children of God, to tell me what is normal... Who God loves... What God hates...!!!"

As if it is inconcieveable for The God of the Bible to love these "sinners".

"Love the sinner, hate the sin"... so the cliche' goes. So often, it is anything but love, that "Christ's children", show to the gay community.

the truth is, the sin of homsexuality, is no different from any of the top ten.

It's not mentioned in the 10 commandments. Promiscuity, and adultery are on that list (the 10 commandments are not the whole of the law mind you). However, If these are men & women, who are choosing to be monogomous, and live a "Christian" lifestyle... what difference does it make that they happen to be the same gender?

Don't children who are orphans, need loving two parent homes to grow up in? So what, if both parents are the same sex?

And what of those reports that say, the children adopted by Lesbian and Gay couples, are happier and better adjusted than average american teens?

Contrast that with reports that the children adopted by gay couples are more likely to "become" gay...

So many differing reports... what is one to believe?

Which leads me to the 144 thousand dollar question... are people born gay?

You see, don't you, that if they are, then it would be one seriously sadistic God, who would spurn and condemn His creation. He'd also be a contradictory God. Which is why it is so important to the "right", that they are right... in saying that homosexuality is a choice.
One can choose to be gay. Or choose to be strait. Because "God don't make mistakes"... Only people do that.

There is "some" medical evidence to support the claim that men and women are born gay... a few gladular, and frontal lobe studies... though nothing that can be printed in bold on page one of the San Franscisco Gazzett as 'absolute truth'... nothing as conclusive as "the Word of God".

If we are to have a theological debate on these, and other verses from within the Mosaic Law, we must surely be reminded that, according to Christian Doctorine, it is the New Testament, which trumps the Old...

But we must also be reminded, that, Christ came to "fullfill the Law, not abolish it"...

I find it a bit ironic, that in debates, 9 times out of ten, it is the "unclean" 'gays', who have a better grasp on the teachings of Christ, even the Mosaic Law, then the vehement "Christian", anti-gay.

They quote the verses more fluidly, and understand the love conveyed in the text, better. Most "Christain" debators on this issue, can only spew dogma/doctorine/and a few pat verses taken out of context, as above.

If Christ, while here on Earth, partied with the publicans, the sinners. Redeemed the whores, and healed the lepers... wouldn't that amazing grace, fall on the homosexual?

Why has the church reverted to become the picture of Pharisee & Sadusee's that Christ called "white washed tombs full of dead men's bones".

Well. In truth. I don't believe, the fact that LDS leaders are "agreeing" on paper with other faiths, on the nature of marriage..."between a man and a woman as the only acceptable marriage relationship", as them not having love, grace, and understanding, of the situation of the homosexual in America.

it is a precarious situation indeed.

So back to my question... Are people born gay?

This is not a simple yes or no/true or false question.

I believe, that Gay men and women, fall into several catagories, but there is no concrete answer;

First of all, concerning the "Bi-sexual". It is my belief that all women are NATURALLY Bi-sexual. As in "nat·u·ral·ly
adv.

1. In a natural manner.
2. By nature; inherently.
3. Without a doubt; surely."

I beleive it is by design, that women have this ability to be Bi-sexual. Though, not evey woman obviously, acts upon her innate 'homosexual' side. Many, because of conditioning, (either parental, religious, sociotal, or all three), deny this very important, and God given 'trait'.

I do not believe it is natuaral for men to be Bi-sexual. I think it is brought on by enviromental conditions, initially. (ie. Jail, molestation, ect...) If it persists into the later stages of life, it is because it has become habitual, and therefore 'comfortable'. However, I beleive the design of "man" is 'hunger'(attraction to) "women".

There are Gay people, who are gay, because of abuse, and psychic scaring left by abusors. This would include "man hating" lesbians, who, at the hands of sexualy abusive male figures through out their lives, grew the seeds of disapointment, into the mighty oaks of hate and rage... vowing never to be "touched by 'men' again"... Sadly, there are but a handful of real men left in the world... who can a girl respect? Who can a girl trust? The art of noble manhood is gone the way of the Dodo.

This would also include* men, who as children, were molested by males, to the point of confusion... the point where they can no longer "remember not being this way."

Men who were "mothered" too much, or molested by their mothers, and vow never to "touch a woman". (Sadly, the art of motherhood, too, is extinct... which is the real reason for the death of manhood.)

And women who were raised by "daddy", as substitue sons.

These types of men and women, would not be "officialy" gay from the womb... though the lines do blur a great deal, these are choices made by the individuals.

So, what of the men and women so convinced that they were born gay, that they risk loosing all family ties, friends, and sometimes even jobs, and town residency? They are angry at the loss of self. The forced denial of real and tangible emotions. The constant bigotry, and jokes in bad taste. No religion. No leader of any religion. Certainly no member of any religion... is going to tell these fine folks, they are not what they know they are... See the Indigo Girls on this.

What of the people so convinced that there was a mistake, that they are willing to go through countless hours of psycho therapy, in order to get a recomendation for countless hours of hormone therapy, in order to one day, go under the knife, and have their genders surgiacally reassigned? Would any one in their right mind possibly suffer the humiliation and indignation, associated with this massive life change?

The ultra-right, some conservitives, a few middle of the road-ers, and alot of religious folks would say... they are out of their minds. "God doesn't make mistakes...". I agree. She doesn't. But people do. Parents do. Doctors do. Writters of dogma do.

So... what am I driving at?

Democrats say the amendment is a divisive bow to religious conservatives, and point out that it conflicts with the GOP's opposition to big government interference.

"A vote for this amendment is a vote for bigotry pure and simple," said Democratic Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, where the state Supreme Court legalized gay marriages in 2003.

Mayor Gavin Newsom of San Francisco, which in 2004 began issuing marriage licenses to gay couples, on Monday denounced Bush's move as predictable and "stale rhetoric" aimed at rallying conservatives for this year's midterm elections.

"It's politics. It's pandering and it's placating a core constituency, the evangelicals," Newsom said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a possible presidential candidate in 2008, promptly placed the amendment on the floor schedule, with Bush's promotion central to the plan.

In his Saturday radio address, Bush cast the amendment as a defense of the stability of society and a strike back at judges who have overturned state laws similar in intent to the proposed legislation.

"In our free society, people have the right to choose how they live their lives," Bush said. "And in a free society, decisions about such a fundamental social institution as marriage should be made by the people, not by the courts."

Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., said Sunday that the amendment is unnecessary. "We already have a law, the Defense of Marriage Act. ... Nobody has violated that law. There's been no challenge to that law. Why do we need a constitutional amendment?" Biden said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Parliamentary maneuvers were likely to sink the amendment for the year. Senate procedure requires two days of debate before the 100-member Senate decides — 60 votes are required — whether to consider the amendment on an up-or-down vote.

Sympathy For The Devil: Giving Satan Grace(?)

I Have begun to read the Satanic Bible, by Anton Szander LeVay (Avon Press, 1969). In the firstchapter, 'the Book Of Satan, the infernal diatribe' , I read, concerning Christians, "their talk of "charity", when applied to His Infernal Majesty, becomes an empty sham - "

It made me start to think. It's true. No grace is ever given to Satan by Christians. the Biblical accounts of Lucifers exchange with the Creator, have him, and the third of Heavens host who followed him, eternally spurned from the good graces of God.

Interestingly, Christians seldomly think about the fact, that Lucifer, though having to undergo a name change, was given the deed to the Earth. He may not get to stay, but he's been the boss 'round here for a mellenia. In a way, that's grace.

I find this philosophy of LeVay's facinating. In truth, I belive he "channeled" the dark lord, for the writing of this small but ferocious letter to God. He mixes so much truth with lies and circular logic... it reminded me of church on sunday morning... The weird thing is... I do have a bit of grace for Satan. You have heard, I'm sure, of the theraputic technique, of writting all your angry thoughts down in the form of a letter, but not mailing it? Well. When I was a bit angrier, about 12-13 years ago... I wrote visciously ferocious letters of anger to my father. It indeed, would have been theraputic... Unfortuantly, I didn't heed the later part of the advice, and I mailed those angry letters to my Dad. I hurt him deeply with my words.

As I read the Satanic Bible, I am reminded of those letters to a father. I recognize this treatise as exactly that. An angry, ferocious, diatribe, designed to hurt a Father, and enrage with fear and confussion his other children(or followers)...

I have been contemplaiting for a while on the state of affiars in the "House of God". God's house, seems in disarray, at first, second, and third glance.

After finnishing "The Davinci Code" by Dan Brown recently, then seeing the film. I started thinking on what exactly I wished to blog about here.

I decided on organized religion.

What I do not want this peice to be, is a critique of Dan Brown's book, nor a review of Ron Howard's film. Both were excellent, in every way... (there are plenty of other blogs with which that statement can be debated)

I will be touching on them however, as they are relivant to the malaise of misinformation that is world over. I think the success of the book and movie, speak in the first place of America's growing hunger for the spiritual... (the same reason they launched 12 new Televison shows last season, with supernatural themes)... And in the second place... America's growing disdane for organized religion... ("there has to be something more than this...")

I realize that this topic can be huge and confussing. Much truth can get sweept under the preverbial rug, with broad brush statements... so I wanna be particular, and precise, in my conveying of ideas. (This can be difficult on a topic such as organized religion... due to the personal emotions involved, and some peoples inability to seperate those emotions from rational thought... plus, the aforementioned mis-information... ). Thank God, we live in a land that, at least for now, is open for free discussion on any topic... (You say Torrah, I say Bible... let's call the whole thing liable)...

But in all seriousness, religion has been said to be the "opiate of the masses". And certainly to a degree, I agree with that. Religion has been used to control, and manipulate, the uneducated masses for centuries.

We 'learned' from Dan Brown, that, Christianity, for example, was highjacked at the hands of the Roman Emporer Constantine, a rabbid Pagan, who saw Jesus Christ, not as the savior of his soul, and the answer for humanity... but rather viewed the converting to Christianity as a shrewd political move at pleasing the masses, who, were embracing the teachings of this dissident Jewish prophet, in droves.
Consantine, became a "Christian", so ALL the citizens of Rome would love and obey him... and he appeased both Pagan and Christian alike, by fusing the charactistics of these religions together. The first melting pot of ideas? Perhaps. More likely, the first in many sucsesful white washings of Christ's radicaly simple teachings.

This move by the Emporer, became the genisis of "The Roman Catholic(Universal) Church". Exactly how much attrocity that has been performed under the guise of "Christs love", we may never know... but that of which we do know is horrifying... and anything but Christ like. (the inquisition, the witches hammer, ect). These truths, often get sugar coated (or ignored all together) by leaders of both Catholic, and Evangelical Christian sects, who, I believe, are afraid of loosing membership, as much as saving souls. (one of those broad brush statements, I mentioned)

The main theme of The Davinci Code is the appriention/burrial, of the sacred feminine. But by focusing totaly upon who Mary Magdaline may or may not have been... Brown/Howard leave us wanting so much more information on goddesses and their followers. My blog is probably not the most thourough place to gleen Goddess studies... But at least I am not afraid of Her....

From the begining of time, man has worshipped that which was unknown to him, that which was greater. The Sun, the Moon, the Stars. There has always been worship. There have always been festivals, and celebrations. There were always gods. There were always goddess'. Always Myth. Always Mystery.

The Egyptians, fathers(and mothers) of Science/Medicine, Art, Craftmanship... are also the fore runners on Religion... Interestingly, the ancient pyramid exist in only two locations on the planet. Egypt, and Mexico. These two cultures, were Polytheistic. Both Revered the Sacred Feminine. Both were wiped out at the hands of conquerinig "Christians"...

The Madonna, is the only goddess allowed in mainstream Christianity. (Though, it is hard to get a Protestant to say the word 'goddess', with out a cringe... even about the mother of God).

Dispite the fact that most American Christians don't like it, the truth is, the virgin birth story predates The New Testament by two thousand years or more. It is ancient truth, of African origin... yet... that fact, does not negate the possibility of Christ's birth to a virgin. In my ecconomy, it only strengthens that possibility. We forget as Americans, that different languages, have different names for the same things...divinity included. We create God in our own image, by limiting Him/Her, to our our own understanding... By forgeting that He/She meets us where we are...

Logos:

The Bible, is still the best selling book on the planet,(though Mr. Brown has given it a run for it's money)... It is held as sacred to some, and as literature to others.

The fact that scholars like Hank Hennegraff (The Bible Answerman) wish to ignore, is that it has been tampered with, for centuries. That upon the cannonization of those writings, the Nician Councel, (then others as needed) tossed thousands of epistles, gospels, and other writtings... The survivors such as Thomas' Gospel, The Gnostic Gospels, and others, are discounted as herressies... Durring the Middle Ages, The Holy Bible, was hand writen, then in the mid 1400's printed in Latin. Therefore, unavailable to illiterate peasants and surfs. It has been Edited, and manipulated for as long as it has been compiled... Yet that fact, does not shake my faith in the Prophesies one iota. Though run through the quezinart of history... The Truth that is contained in what remains, makes one nurishing salad, for those truley seeking enlightenment.

I have heard the phrase, "the inerrancy of scripture" so many times from Evangelical Christian teachers and lay poeple... Yet there is little to no fight in the dog to get at the earliest manuscripts...Why aren't we protesting the Vatican, for full disclosure of the Dead Sea Scrolls? We got to read, the Book of Issiah, for example... but the rest is hidden... for our benifit, or theirs? Why do we as 'Followers', not demand more from our leaders?

When presented with these kinds of possibilities in a book/film such as the Davinci Code, the modern Christian's twitch, and bitch... denying the possibility, that the "Word Of God" could be tampered with. It angers them. (another broad brush statement) One thing I have learned is that most people, myself included, are lazy.
They don't take the time to investigate further. To read, and research... But in my/our deffense... where on God's Green Earth, do we go for information... for truthful information... on God's Gold Heaven? All the information seems slanted one way or another...

People want to trust their leaders, and councelors. Those whom they have placed in position above them. Trust, that they have done the reading. Performed sufficient research. And give the most reliable accountings of it. Most of those very falibale teachers, will ask to be checked up on... yet, some I have encountered, do not like thier authority challenged...("Respectah Muh Author-ATAY").

On The Eastern Front:

Buddists make up much of the worlds faithful. Siddhartha became the "Enlighened One", 400 years before, Jesus the Christ walked the planet. Much of what the Buddah taught, is found in the New Testement accounts of Christ's Ministry. Yet to many main stream Evangelicals, and Catholic Lay People, this is a sort of blasphemy... To assert that Buddah, could be one incarnation of the "True & Living God"...

It's their way, or the highway(to Hell)... They're affraid, to even consider the possibility...
this seems like such a shakey kind of faith to me...

The Chinese culture is the oldest recorded on the planet... as it was the Chinese, who invented movable type. The First types of books came from this culture. To me, it does not seem a stretch, that God manifested Himself to young Siddhartha, and he, in turn, taught in a form that would be one their constitutions could digest... I guess... they just don't have the whole story.

Although, they often buy into, and perpetuate stereotypes given to Satan, at least they understand, for the most part, his role in all of our lives.

Tonight, May 9, 2006, ABC (THE ALL BULLSHIT CHANEL), is airing a made for TV movie about the pending pandemic of avian flu. This precisly the kind of brain washing that has been going on since the apprehention of Filo Farnsworth's invention. If we watch it unfold on TV... then it's far easier to stomach when it happens. Or I should say, when "they" foist it upon us... in "real life".
The movie, of which I watched about 30 minutes, used all the tricks in the preverbial bag, to envoke emotion. (emotion being the easiest way to hypnotize a person... Fear and simulatanious calming of said fear...)

Film highlights include: The government officials being warned.

The bleeding heart liberal ( a blonde woman), who is concerned for the human rights of the people about to be rounded into interment type quarantine, arguing vehemently in a plastic air-lock chamber with the handsom, young, and tough politician, who informs her that he was "elected to make these kinds" of hard nosed decisions... for the good of all(all all all- echos round the cube for dramitic effect).

The food supplies drying up, featuring one woman paying $17.00 for a $19.00 bag of coffe beans. Another woman's (single mother of two) having only rice and flour in the kitchen, as her son suddenly becomes sick... then hungry.

A man, consumed in panic, puts a revolver under his chin, 9not to scratch it)in front of his 2 year old.

The War in Iraq was mentioned a handfull of times,(always good to use a very current event for effective thought control), and as one good hearted (Latina) nurse, argues with a disgruntled ("my mother and baby are sick at home... and it's probably from me...") coworker about stealing medical supplies, her handsom, (African/American), veteran, boyfriend arives home, greeting her in the chaotic emergency room. Informing her that he too WAS sick, but got over it. (she later mentiones to him there are no coffee beans anywhere, but there is instant if he wants it)

Entertainment(?)

Fear is the greatest manipulator of minds. It was used in the mid 80's for the AIDS crisis. It spawned a whole new "education" program.

As for Avian Flu, when we collectivly cry out, "they" will come forth with a "solution", (but not untill we say uncle).
A major part of it will be the education of the kids. Get the next generation ready for the plan... and ignor the current generation. Burry thier parents.

The reason to portray it this way is to kind of give a wake-up call to everyone and this is something we shouldn't ignore and we should be as prepared as we should be," said Diana Kerew, one of the movie's executive producers.

Bird flu expert Michael Osterholm said the movie realistically portrays the shortages of goods and services, and some of the ensuing panic, that could occur in a pandemic. But Osterholm frets the blurring of information and entertainment could do the public a disservice and hopes to arrange a conference call with television critics before the movie airs to set the record straight. He singled out for criticism how the movie shows Virginia officials using barbed wire to fence off and quarantine entire neighborhoods.

"This is too far important an issue to create further confusion in the public's mind," said Osterholm, who directs the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota."<<<<<<<<<

Wonderful sentiment. It may be "far too imprtant...", but it's done.
John and Jane Q. Public tuned in tonight, to watch Stacy Keatch, and several other washed up actors, act out the nightly news broadcast in a 2 hour drama. I find it interesting that TV and Movies use "real News" anchors to "play" the part of themselves, or thier ilk, in these shows. It lends a 'realism'... doncha think?

Bravado... it's a funny thing. I wonder if, it is routed entirely in resentment that is pent up. I can only be aware of this. to fight it, would be, as Roy Masters sais, "to struggle like a man in a swamp"... I need only see it. It's funny how when you see a movie made around the time you were becoming a teenager, it has a new life. Messages, that were writen become clear, through the eyes of experience. And somehow, a film that should just be fun and nostalgic in a distant way, is brand new.

I'm sure you remember the film. Ren, played by the then young heartthrob Kevin Bacon, moves to tiny Beaumont Oklahoma, from the thriving metropolis that is Chicago, only to find that the entire town is under the feirce restriction of no dancing, no rock music, no drinking.
Befreinded by the clumsy yet lovably tough Chris Penn, Ren starts to breathe life into the teens that surround him at school. His biggest opponent in his battle is the town Preacher(played brilliantly by John Lithgow), who hapens to be the father of his love interest Aerial.

See the small town folk, have lived under the law for upwards of 5 years, which was established because of the death of two carloads of teens, who had been drinking, and dancing... they parrished in a foolish game of chicken. One of the teens was the son of the Reverend. The death of his son, somehow, was the death of his soul, and he led the town to become repressive, and stiffnecked. All in the name of "righteousness".

As I watched the film I couldn't help but remember how at one time on my journey, I had become very much the same way. I was attending a church that I enjoyed very much, whose music service was pleasing, and whose teaching was meaty enough to satisfy my veracious appitite for God's word. It was durring this time that I met the woman that become my wife. She and I had many simular passions, one of which was the naked company of each other. Another was the out and out guilt of premarital sex. It was the combination of the two that led me down the isle, and I found out that niether is a reason to wed.

I had betrayed myself, by taking as a wife (one of the things I held most sacred) someone whome I not only didn't want to mary in the deep recesses of my heart, but who was toxic for my growth, and well being. When I kissed her on that fateful day, a part of me died inside. I never lost my real faith, in a true and living God, but I did begin to wax cold, and become at times indifferent to the greater spiritual good of things.

I wrestled with guilt through out my marriage, and had an off again/on agiain relationship to ministry. I was assisting with the Highschool teens at one time, and had been in a serious blue spell for months. Always prideing myself on an extensive CD collection, one day I started casting down judgement on some of the artists I had spent "God's money" on. Bear in mind that none of them were Slayer, Christian Death, or King Diamond... yet I somehow had deduced through my developing Pharisitical eyes, that these artists were the sugar coated versions of the Satanic giants mentioned above. I don't remember all the CD's, but one of them was Collective Soul(if you've ever listened to thier lyrics, you can see how rediculous my reaction was at the time)...

I remember being angry. In retrospect I know it was at myself, and myself alone. But then, I thought it was righteous anger at Satan, and his minions for the pop music they produced. I didn't even listen to the youth pastors teaching that session(which was probably for me), I was just red with rage, and determined to demonstrate my fierce adhearence to the "Word of God", to these impressionable highschoolers. So after the class was dismissed I stood up and yelled, and led the kids out in to the court yard between the church and offices, like McCarthy's march at defeating the Red Menace. And dispite the prompting of friends and leaders, I took a single jack sledgehammer to the half dozen or so CD's, one of which was the Collective Soul record, based on the logic that they were on tour with Van Halen(one of my all time favorite bands by the way).

I am laughing as I write this, remembering my pain, and the pain I caused the horrifed teen's that day. They stood mouths agape as I called out each "sin" of each artist or group, and brought down the single jack of justice upon the jewel boxes of Hell...
Oh boy... how foolish I was then...

The soundtrack of Footloose features several songs by Kenny Loggins, the song 'I'm Free' contains the line "Heaven helps the man who fights his fears". That lyric ministers to me so much today. That is one lesson I have learned on this sojourn toward the light. Perfect Love casts out fear.

In the film, after taking enough backwoods style abuse from the small minded folks of Beaumont, Ren and his friends decide to take on the city councel, and get the law abolished forever. It is at the meeting, led puppet style by the "Right Reverend", that Bacon's character envokes the true spirit of worship, he opens up the Holy Bible and quotes Psalms, and 1st Samuel, pointing out that King David danced and sang before the Lord with all his might. And referencing Ecclesiates, he shows that there is a time to laugh, and a time to weep, a time to mourn, and a time to...dance...

However, the Pastor is not convinced. That is untill he is called to the library where his congregation is burning books from the shelves. In that moment he realizes that his crusade has been one not based on righteousness but foolishness. He points out that Satan is not in the texts of the books, he's in our hearts. It's not our job to save the world, it's our job to not be overtaken where it counts... Our own souls.

You know the rest of the movie. The kids hold the dance just outside of town, the sunday prior, the Pastor asks the Lord's blessing on thier endevors... and the Kid's turn Footloose!!

This movie (which is based on a true story by the way) means alot to me. Not only because it came out when I was in sixth grade. And not only because it was filmed in my niegborhood, and surrounding towns. Certainly not because it has a kick-ass soundtrack(which it most certainly does). No, Footloose means alot to me, because it holds the truth, in a most impactful way. God is in the details, and His ways are not our ways.

Beware being so "righteous", that one can not see that he isn't right.

Well as of friday December 16th, the Senate has rejected the reauthorization of the 16 expiring provisions to the Patriot Act. Giving, appearently, three months extention to law makers, in order to assure that civil liberties are protected. However, President "Bush has said that he will veto a three month extention,"
(suprise, suprise, suprise) "arguing that it would be inadequete." as reported in the Washington Post. "[However] without an extention, the 16 provisions could expire at the end of the year. There is also the possibility the Senate could manage to bring the Patriot Act to a vote before the December 31st deadline."(emphasis mine)

Meanwhile Bush is vehemntly defending his phone wire tapping policy. Stating that he will continue to authorize the (not so secret anymore) monitoring of phone and internet conversations. But the legality of this issue so disurbed one of the so called "spy court judges", that he resigned on Monday the 19th. "U.S. Disrtict Judge James Robertson, one of the 11 members of the secret Foriegn Intellegence Surveillance Court,(the court where the NSA is required by law, to obtain warrents, before any surveillance can be done), sent a letter to Chief Justice John D. Roberts Jr...without an explination," resigning the bench he has held since 1994. He made no comment when The Washington Post contacted his office.

Vice presedent Cheney feels that the office of the President is not strong enough. Some of the venom spewed forth by the vice President:"I believe in a strong, robust executive authority, and I think that the world we live in demands it--and to some extent that we have an obligation as the administration to pass on the offices we hold to our successors in as good of shape as we found them,"'Cheney said.' 'In wartime, he said, the president "needs to have his constitutional powers unimpaired."(the Washington Post)

I have noticed a couple differing styles of reporting of these issues. On a local level, the evening "news" teams offer watered down versions of the happenings in Washington DC... one report made it sound as if the Patriot Act had been thrown out by the Senate, when in reality, 97.9% of the Patriot Act is already law...Hence the actual name of the Act, Public Law 107-56 (107th conviening of law makers, issue 56 in that session.) And Rags like the New York Times, and the Washington Post, are a bit more hard hitting in thier detail of the happenings afoot. However, I assure you, that unless we make ourselves heard, these travesties to "Truth Justice and the American Way" will continue in the name of a bogus war, where actual people are loosing lives. We are still mostly asleep and entirely too quiet on this.
'Bush is still defending his(?) decision to invade Iraq, claiming "it wasn't a mistake" and that "history will judge"(BBC-question mark mine)He is urging Americans to not give into dispair over the war. When asked why we did nothing as the government took away our freedom, what will we say?

I was trying to find VH1 or BET, and flipped to CSPAN instead. I caught the debate in the House of Representitives, on the new H.R. 3199. Which reauthorizes the Patriot Act.
It was a solid debate, on the 16 provisions this bill gives new or expanded power to. Rep. Jeff Flake R-Arizona was a supporter of the passing of the conference report, he lauded the governments scrutiny on this issue, sighting there have been 12 hearings to reform the National Security Letters issue.

Rep. John Conyer D-Michigan, was the main speaker against H.R. 3199. He stated that the additon of provisions such as the Death Penalty increase, to the already harsh Patriot Act, makes the law meaner.

His opponent in the debate was Rep. James Sensenbrenner R-Wisconson, who is the Judiciary Commity Chairman, who yeilded 2 minutes to Rep. Mark Souder R-Indiana, whom authored the Methamphetamine Act. He thanked Mr. Sensenbrenner for working so hard, and stated that his act could only pass within a conference report. Methamphetamenes were stated by another Rep. as the main means of financing terrorist cells with in the United States. The Anti-Meth bill toughens penalties of violators, and provides programs for pregnant women addicted to amphetamines. It takes all ephedrine, and psudoephidrine(the main ingredient in Crystal Meth) and places them locked up behind the counters at drug stores, and requires the signing of log books, ect. It holds importer/exporters accountable, and also includes EPA standards, and enviromental law(two things rarely seen in a republican sponsored bill...that is unless it meets "other purposes").

One of the most dynamic of the speakers was Rep. Jarrold Nadler D-New York, who pointed out that section 215 allows the FBI to obtain any information on anyone, while prohibiting the party being investigated, and the gag order prohibits the victim from even knowing about it. Furthermore, there is no judicial review on NSLs.

One of only 17 Repblican congressmen to not support H.R. 3199 was Rep. Dana Rohrbacher of California. He stated that federal police powers were sunsetted in the Patriot Act(PL 107-56) for a reason, and when you expand police powers, regardless of the promise of oversite, those powers will remain, long after any one that was on the floor that day were to be around. He noted that Pro-Lifers should fear these provisions, as they would be comming for them, and noted that this is something the friends of the Second Ammendment, already understood. He also said 'no matter how much oversite' is provided for, it still 'opens the door for abuse'. "which is what our Founding Fathers intended when they said these powers should be expanded ONLY in the case of an emergency, other wise these police powers should be denied to the Federal Government."

The most eloquent of all non-supporters of the controversial bill was House Minority Leader, Rep. Nancy Pelosi D-California. She pointed out that 90% of the Patriot Act is permanent law already, and provided law enforcement tools that were acceptable. What was being debated in the conference report, was the passing of certain 16 provisions that are controversial, and have the potential for abuse. She stated that security must be balanced with civil liberties. Pointing out that not all the tools that law enforcment officers want, are tools that they legitamatly need. She too envoked the spirit of the Founding Fathers, stating that they led a revolution to secure liberty against an arbitrary power. The founders knew that you couldn't have liberty with out security, and security with out liberty in a democracy.
She asked each member of the House if they knew if an NSL had been issued against them. Also the asking the American people if they knew. In fact they(we) can not know. Will not know. Because the reciepients of NSL are not allowed to disclose to us the fact that they must give our most personal information to the FBI. Therefore the NSL can not be challleged. The letters can be sent, and no relationship to information sought, need to be linked to terrorism. she stated this is a "Massive invasion of the privacy of the people". The FBI issues 30,000 NSL per year.
"The Partiot Act is supposed to to have Congressional oversite, but the Bush Administration and the Republican controlled Congress have remained delinquent in oversite responsibilities". "the republican failier of oversite is glarring, and directly impacts every American."

It was here that the interesting thing happened. She was cut off. CSPAN, which is a live stream, was 'rewound'. I say rewound, for lack of a better term. Nancy Pelosi was cut short and tape was replayed, going back in the debates aproxamatly 15 minutes, to Rep. Jeff Flake. Call it what you want, this is a form of censorship. CSPAN is designed give the American people the benifit of being at hearings, and sessions. I know that were I a witness at the House, Ms. Pelosi, would not have rewound. I also know from being employed in media, that this was not technical difficulties. From this point on, I could no longer rewind TEVO. So I watched all of the Reps. again. through Nancy Pelosi, to where she had been cut off.

She stated we must have standards that clarify, and section 505 must include sunset provissions. "Democracy requires nothing less".

The reason this was being debated, was so that law makers could have an additional 3 months to revise, and fix this controversial law.

Rep. Conyers of Michigan stated that 143 of 216 pages of this bill(H.R. 3199) have nothing to do the Patriot Act. That the 16 expiriing provisions were now a "Christmas tree" for Republicans, includiing such things as random drug laws, removal Presidential term ristrictions, peace protest infringment, federal employee benifits, and death penalty expantions. He pushed for the agreement of the Senate version of the Law. Senater Russ Fiengold(the only senater to vote against the Patriot Act) is the leader in the current opposition to the reauthorisation of the Patriot Act.

So, of course the Republicans had the votes to pass the conference report. the vote was 252 yea - 174 nay. 43 Democrats voted to pass while 154 voted nay. 208 Republicans voted yea, while only 17 said nay. There was a motion to reconsider, but it was moved along quickly.

One thing of note, was durring the vote, CSPAN took calls from the viewers. And of all the Bush supporters, not one, had a rational or articulate reason to pass the law. But of the Democratic supporters(and one indi caller) all were extreemly well educated, and articulateed thier points thuroughly. One caller poited out that, the Republicans are not talking about gun control, but they are providing the accumulation of the information that will make disarming the citizens a reality. Another, who's son is in Army intel, stated that the army is putting task forces together, and one of the questions asked is, "are you willing to fire upon American Citezens?", and anyone who is not willing, is removed from the selection process.

They appear to be ready for marshal law. Are we?

Dowd: Dumbing down the People

Local Provo, Utah Newspaper, The Daily Harald ran a story today(Sunday Dec 11th) on the lecture given Saturday the 10th, at Sundance, by New York times editorial writer Maureen Dowd. She is the author of a new book that lampoons American men called "Are Men Really Necessary?". The article was writen by Caleb Warnock of the Daily Harold, and I have reprinted most of the story here. WARNOCK: 'Men should not be afraid of her book, which was "just meant to be fun," she said, noting men are "not going out of business next Thursday." But new genetic studies show the Y chromosome is "melting faster than the wicked witch of the West" and men will "disappear in 1,000 years," she said.

And that's OK because women don't need men and "we'll be getting rid of all men except 100 really cute ones to keep as sperm slaves," she said to laughter. "It will be survival of the fittest. Men who want to survive will have to be very attentive and entertaining, keep their hourglass figures and not shush us when the Utah Jazz are on -- and those are the straight men. The gay ones we are definitely keeping."

(WARICK continued)'Rather than give a speech, Dowd spent an hour taking questions from the audience. Almost none of the questions had to do with her book, focusing instead on Dowd's political insider status.

hearing on Karl Rove, will he be indicted or not?" Dowd said the investigation into who leaked the name of a CIA agent is "really harder than quantum physics to keep up with."

J.D DAVIS: This is the kind of brush off, via thought trail, I have been writing about. Whether Dowd was concience of it or not, by likening the investigation to quantum physics, Dowd sends the listener on a trail of thoughts related to quantum physics, the listeners own failings of understanding such a complex system of thought, and a million or trillion other possible thought mud holes, which will send the mind far away from the topic of question, Namely Karl Rove.

(WARNOCK continued)'Ideally Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, "would be unraveling the war" with his investigation, but instead has been "swept up in being an unlikely sex symbol," she said, noting there are now T-shirts for sale reading "I (heart) Fitz."

J.D DAVIS: Again we have more shuck and jive here. A complete sidestep, in the name of light banter, or blatent comedic posturing(what's the diff?)... Now we are thinking about Special Councel Patrick Fitzgerald as "A sex symbol", and not as the man NOT doing his job. Who is more to blame on this side step I ask you, Dowd, for making the comment...or Warnock, for reporting it as news, and letting her get away with it?

(WARNOCK cont)'When asked "what do you think Cheney hoped to accomplish five years ago by pushing to get into the war," Dowd said Cheney and Bush had "high-jacked everyone's emotions and fears and took them to Iraq."

Bush and Cheney wanted to "kick around the Arabic world" that had been "looking cross-eyed" at America "and that is what shock and awe was about," she said. "Bush needed to do better than his father because he had sort of been a drifter his whole life."

The Bush administration "suppressed all the intelligence reports" before the war and anyone in the press who spoke out against the war, including Dowd herself, was branded as either "being a Democrat or unpatriotic. To send our kids there thinking it was going to be chocolate and roses is not the height of patriotism to me," she said.

J.D DAVIS: This sounds very sensible. I do not know this woman Dowd. Until yesterday I had never heard of her, or if I had heard her name thrown around, I didn't pay any attention... However. This is what I call the classic Two Heads of the Dragon. (I must have my friend Shasta draw this up for me), the Beast has one head with an elephant likeness, and the other with a donkey likeness. It's the FOX News Network, encapsulated. George Walker Bush, is not now, nor was he ever competing with his father, G.H.W. Bush. Pres. Bush was wild in his youth. However he at no time was out of the grace of the Bush Empire. She's right, the unpatriotic card is often played by the Bush White House...Pay attention...read on...

(WARNOCK cont)'Recent media reports have said Bush is paying Arabic newspapers to place U.S. propaganda masquerading as authentic news stories in Arabic newspapers, which makes it clear that Bush and Cheney "didn't learn any lessons," she said. "We are creating a democracy but we are not using democratic principles."

J.D DAVIS: This is my assertion. you can throw my oppinion if the trash if you don't agree. Hillary Clinton is the perfect choice for the next president. So good in fact, she was picked, by hand, along with her husband to play this part. WAY back, when all this first began. One thing the Bush clan learned with the implementation of thier television war machine, is that you must offset the Ultra-Right Warmongering, with some nice soft, warm and fuzzy 'liberalism'. She's black, she's a woman, she's a republican. The African-Americans, most of which, traditionally have voted democrat, are between a rock and a hard place. Clinton may be white, but, she's a woman, and 'liberal'(I use that term loosly) enough to appese the hounds just a bit. A 'bone', thrown to the Gays, to the Pro-Choicers, and strangly enough, even to Black Americans... So for Eight more years, (just as when Mr. President Clinton was in office) the Bush Corporation can do thier worst, at totalitarinism. (can anyone say Jimmy Carter?) John Kerry was never ment to win the election. (why would the GOP put Bob Dole up aginst Slick William Clinton?) In a real battle, they wouldn't. It was inconcevable.

"Judy said 'I got it wrong with WMD ,but I'm only as good as my sources,' " Dowd said. "But that is not right for Times readers because investigative journalism is not stenography. When sources tell you something, that is the beginning, not the end."

(WARNOCK cont)'When asked if freedom of speech has suffered since Bush took office, Dowd said the American people have been forced to question their beliefs since learning the U.S. government was secretly arresting and torturing people.

"Dick Cheney has been lurking around Capitol Hill trying to get more torture condoned," she said, calling the Bush administration an "American gulag."

Cheney has asked John McCain to approve of things "similar to what was done to John McCain in Vietnam" and in response McCain is saying the nation has lost its moral authority, she said.

"Now we are forced to ask ourselves, are we people that torture?" she said. "Do we snatch people off the streets and take them to be tortured in Romania? We are shaking our lives and wondering who we are."

THE SHOW PONY

Craig Bybee is a weasly little conniver of a man. Short in stature, about 5'6" or so. Just acouple inches taller than the woman that would be the ring leader of this circus for as long as it was required of her. Bybee was bald as a que. Having only the fringes of his boyhood head of hairs circling the base of his skull. Squat and muscular in his build, he had owned several failed construction buisnesses. His body matched his choice of occupation, and like the carpentry shop, and the trucking line, let it fail on himself. He was aging with the grace of a mule colt slipping in mollasas, and carried a potbelly, and an aching back. In fact all his muscles, and bones and tendons hurt. A life of deception is a life of stress, and he wore it under his magnificant smile. A smile slathered in the syrupy shine of fools gold. His smile was indeed dazzling, despite years of chewing leaf tobacco, but seceretly, there was gnashing. Only audible to his own inner ear was the sound of his teeth grinding.
Bybee was handsome enough. In a backwoods, small LDS town kind of way. He drove a Canary Yellow Corvette, and though pollished every weekend, the glistening hood of the American classic hid an engine that moaned, like his six wives before,for attention, and tender loving care. He was miserable.
That doesn't mean he wasn't charasmatic. When needed he could become electric for the crowd. Surely he had performed for his first six wives and thier friends and families. Yes, he performed so admirably for the Mormon elete which surrounded him in false piety, that P.T. Barnum himself would have been proud. Yes, he was a shill. a con man, a grifter. Recreating his world with each new marriage.
A new wife = A new life. "Heavenly Father forgive us our sins...". There had to be an easier way to make a buck.
Bybee was a performer. A semi-skilled ochestator of smoke an mirror type bullshit, and he was pretty quick with the cock and bull. were you not paying attention, he could shmooze you into his world, albeit void of merit, or backing fact. He could you make think he was so right, you'd be appologizing for your own thought process. Which is why she needed him. Why he was the perfect third in a trio of deception. He took direction well. Like a senior in the acting program at the New School. And it was she who was calling the shots. She had done the research, and it was her policy. Lights, camera, (here we go kids)...ACTION.
She was synthesising what would be the easiest and most profitable con job in her illustrius carrer. Her Magnum Opus, and the first in which, she was sure, would bring her peace. The Final Curtain Call. With her two partners in place, and her two hypnotized children following her corrupted lead, this would be a relative snap to pull off, especially in the sleepy little town of Spanish Fork. "Goddamn Memmotts". "That Bastard will get what he deserves"... and she'll finally get all that she deserves, or rather all she felt entitled to for having had such a miserable life herself. "Teresa, too, will have peace", she thought. "She and I will slip away to another Snoozeville USA, somewhere warm...and live the way we want in style"... but something went wrong.

"Lawmakers reach deal on Patriot Act
House and Senate negotiators ready to re-authorize anti-terror law

WASHINGTON - House and Senate negotiators on Thursday reached an agreement to reauthorize the USA Patriot Act, the government’s premier anti-terrorism law, before its major provisions expire at the end of the month, government aides said.
The agreement would extend for now two of the Patriot Act’s most controversial provisions — authorizing roving wiretaps and permitting secret warrants for books, records and other items from businesses, hospitals and other organizations, such as libraries. Those two provisions would expire in four years under the deal.
The Republican-controlled House had been pushing for those provisions to stay in effect as long as a decade, but negotiators decided to go with the GOP-controlled Senate’s suggestion. Republican and Democratic Senate aides confirmed the deal, speaking on condition of anonymity because an official announcement had not yet been made."

"The FBI now issues more than 30,000 national security letters a year, according to government sources, a hundredfold increase over historic norms. The letters --
one of which can be used to sweep up the records of many people -- are extending the bureau's reach as never before into the telephone calls, correspondence and financial lives of ordinary Americans.
Issued by FBI field supervisors, national security letters do not need the imprimatur of a prosecutor, grand jury or judge. They receive no review after the fact by the Justice Department or Congress. The executive branch maintains only statistics, which are incomplete and
confined to classified reports. The Bush administration defeated legislation and a lawsuit to require a public accounting, and has offered no example in which the use of a national security letter helped disrupt a terrorist plot.
Records archived, shared
The burgeoning use of national security letters coincides with an unannounced decision to deposit all the information they yield into government data banks -- and to share those private records widely, in the federal government and beyond. In late 2003, the Bush administration reversed a long-standing policy requiring agents to destroy their files on innocent American citizens, companies and residents when investigations closed. Late last month, President Bush signed Executive Order 13388, expanding access to those files for "state, local and tribal" governments and for "appropriate private sector entities," which are not defined.
National security letters offer a case study of the impact of the Patriot Act outside the spotlight of political debate. Drafted in haste after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the law's 132 pages wrought scores of changes in the landscape of intelligence and law enforcement. Many received far more attention than the amendments to a seemingly pedestrian power to review "transactional records." But few if any other provisions touch as many ordinary Americans without their knowledge.
Senior FBI officials acknowledged in interviews that the proliferation of national security letters results primarily from the bureau's new authority to collect intimate facts about people who are not suspected of any wrongdoing. Criticized for failure to detect the Sept. 11 plot, the bureau now casts a much wider net, using national security letters to generate leads as well as to pursue them. Casual or unwitting contact with a suspect -- a single telephone call, for example -- may attract the attention of investigators and subject a person to scrutiny about which he never learns.
Following digital bread crumbs
A national security letter cannot be used to authorize eavesdropping or to read the contents of e-mail. But it does permit investigators to trace revealing paths through the private affairs of a modern digital citizen. The records it yields describe where a person makes and spends money, with whom he lives and lived before, how much he gambles, what he buys online, what he pawns and borrows, where he travels, how he invests, what he searches for and reads on the Web, and who telephones or e-mails him at home and at work.
As it wrote the Patriot Act four years ago, Congress bought time and leverage for oversight by placing an expiration date on 16 provisions. The changes involving national security letters were not among them. In fact, as the Dec. 31 deadline approaches and Congress prepares to renew or make permanent the expiring provisions, House and Senate conferees are poised again to amplify the FBI's power to compel the secret surrender of private records.
The House and Senate have voted to make noncompliance with a national security letter a criminal offense. The House would also impose a prison term for breach of secrecy.
Like many Patriot Act provisions, the ones involving national security letters have been debated in largely abstract terms. The Justice Department has offered Congress no concrete information, even in classified form, save for a partial count of the number of letters delivered. The statistics do not cover all forms of national security letters or all U.S. agencies making use of them.
"The beef with the NSLs is that they don't have even a pretense of judicial or impartial scrutiny," said former representative Robert L. Barr Jr. (Ga.), who finds himself allied with the American Civil Liberties Union after a career as prosecutor, CIA analyst and conservative GOP stalwart. "There's no checks and balances whatever on them. It is simply some bureaucrat's decision that they want information, and they can basically just go and get it." MSNBC

I just wanted to take a moment and be clear about something. I am indeed a true patriot. I believe this country was founded on righteous principals, by men of high ideals. Men who understood the meaning of the words freedom, liberty, peace, and happiness. Revolutionaries. Willing to stand up to the tyranical govenment that oppressed their rights. Men that held freedom so dear, they were willing to perish to obtain it.

Granted those same men, most of them, owned, as property, other men, women and children. It is not my intent here to discuss the abomination of slavery. It is a very deep and painful discussion. Truely a blight on on the record of history. It is still practiced today, else where in the world. But not here. Not the way it was. In America, we have freedom.

People of any race, creed, or color, each, hold the same opportunities for prosperity. (Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness).
I love my country. I am proud to be an American. I love my flag. I still well up with tears at the words of the National Anthem. I love my flag so much, that I refuse to cheapen it, by wearing it on a t-shirt, waving a shrunken version, or likening it to a bumpersticker. No, my belief is the great ensign of this great nation, should be held in the highest regard. It should proceed our troops, when they, on a righteous quest, go forward to defend our samesaid Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

I fear sports fans, that what we have is a funamental "faliure to communicate".
This is no longer a country at all, but instead "365 Million special intersest groups". We can not truley unite, because we are bombarded with advertising, and spoon feed our oppinions with our daily dose of sit coms. The libery that this land was founded upon, has slowly been erroded over the course of two centuries. Erroded to the point of holding no actual liberty at all.
The advent of technology has dehuminized us, and we have a type of freedom, a false sense of patriotism, if you will. We are obese. We are lazy. And, when it comes down to it, most of us don't care enough, to do a thing about...anything. Am I painting with too broad of brush? I fear I am not.

While we tune in religiously to 'reality' television programming... we tune out to the reality that is happening in Washington D.C., in our State capitols, and around the world. We rely on the Clinton era approved polling, for how we feel as a nation. (example:"32% of Americans polled say we are not... while 27% say...") But most Americans seem more concerned with who Jessica Simpson did or didn't... and less concerned with the fact that our Constitution has been turned to swiss cheese in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. I am far from the first person to ask this question, do you know who owns Cheveron? Mobile? Exxon? But the war in Iraq, albeit part of the big puppet show, is not my main concern. Though the Bush administration asures us that this war is about freedom, and not about oil. Yes, the pumps are priced high. ("...gas price dropped 4 cents today making the national average $2.23 per gallon...")It is our liberty here at home, that is my cry. Not just the liberty to choose Mobile over Exxon(aren't they all one company now?) Our freedom is being eradiacted in the name of "the War on Terror". Is no one terrified at the implementing of these laws that allow you, John and Jane Q. Public, to be investigated, monitored, and kept records of?
What you read in the library, look up on the internet. Whom you call, email. Every detail about how think, act, dress. What you watch, listen to. Is up for grabs by the Government. Does any of this even effect you at all? We will wave our flags to the slaughter. Like lobsters slow boiled, we have become fodder for the machine.
What do I mean? The gas prices are stimulea to get you thinking about one thing. Just as Jessica Simpson, and Martha Stewart are an impetus to get you thinking about something else. A poll result, is not true data, but it will cause a rabbit trail of thought. Which no doubt will lead to more thoughts about childhood, your boss, more films, music, trivia, ect... ad infinitum... In the end, you will be thinking and thinking about everthing "happening", and miss the truth of the moment. When was the last time you had silence, true silence? Why does the majority of america want to be on a reality TV show? we will think and think, and be too damn tired to revolt. When they come to take it all away, we will be so distracted we wont even notice.
Instead of being a true patriot, we will be like the guy in the Matrix, who yells about his cell phone, as revolution happens around him. we will godblezzAmeerikas, as America turns us into fuel. Wake up and smell the brimstone my friends... we are burning as I type. we are burning as you read. The earth is being poisoned. There is no food in our food. We are addicted to everything. PUBLIC LAW 107-56

I wanted to spend some time writing about the H.R. 3162 affectionatly known as the Patriot Act

On October 24th, 2001 the Senate recieved this Act, in response to the September 11th Terrorrist attacks, on the United States.

the title page states;

AN ACT

To deter and punish terrorist acts in the United States and around the world, to enhance law enforcement investigatory tools, and for other purposes.(emphisis mine)

the short title is as follows-"this act may be cited as the 'Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism(USA PATRIOT ACT) Act of 2001"

What those Americans awake enough to notice found out shortly after the passing of Public Law 107-56, is that this Act is a tool used to dismantle the constitution of the United States, to rob Americans of thier Precious civil liberties, and to empower the United States Government, absolutly, by disabeling part of our check and balance system, namely, the Judicial branch of the government.

many of the provisions, were entitled 'sunset provisions', meaning that at certain times they expire, and once that occurs can no longer be changed, the date for the close of these remaining 'sunsets' is December 31st 2005, just days away. The most frightening of these about to expire, is section 2712, the provision allowing civil actions against the United States. In other words, if this Act goes unchallenged by December 31st, 2005, on January 1st, 2006, Americans who are wronfully accused, and/or investigated, suffer personal injury, or any other civil liberty violation, have NO recourse.

The FBI has been re-empowered to investigate the library habits of ordinary Americans, the CIA now has power to operate on these shores. A New branch of government was established, known as The Network. It is now lawful to intercept communications(voice mail, phone convos, email transmissions, ect.)with no warrant, and no more cause than the government sais so.

Should we be concerned about this? A recent article on MSNBC stated that most American's take the 'I have nothing to hide, so it doesn't bother me' attitude to the implementing of this law.

In my oppinion, most American's do not think beyond what they are fed thru the unbilical cord labeled 'comcast'. Their world views consist of that which is handed them on the nightly news. Some read newspapers, some surf the internet for news(I have been doing a bit of all three of late). The problem with this is, is that FOUR (4) corporations, own all of the media outlets combined. That's TV and radio stations, news papers, internet providers, and movie and film production companies. The Four corporations sit at the head, and all the subsidiaries flow out beneath them like the tenticles of a macabre digital octopus.

The billboards are owned by these same entities. The record labels. There is nothing in this industry not owned by the four giants(Viacom, Disney, and General Electric,are three of them).

This is a very finite number of 'people', to be in charge of all the media, or INFORMATION combined.

where is the check and balance there?

Many years ago I was working at a small LP manufacturing plant in Califrnia. I was an avid fan of Rush Limbaugh. As were my boss and coworker. We listened exclussivly to conservitive talk radio while at work. The daily talk was of then President Bill Clinton, and each day,it was the same old story of his sexual exploits, the stains on Luinsky's dress, the shape of his penis, Whitewater, Paula Jones, etcetera, ad nausium.

I was grociery shopping one day, and noticed a book in the paperback section, entitled 'American Hero'. This was the last printing of this book, as the jacket proclaimed in bold letters, "SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE". I was thrilled as I read the back cover synopsis, and purchased the book. I'd get to read it before the film was made!! It ended up being the most eye opening book I have ever read, and my life was forever changed. Here's my synopsis.

Baisicly, this book revolved around two characters. A hollywood actress, and a private investigator that she hires. The actress is the big woohoo in hollywood at the time. She is working on a new movie, with the 'top' director, she has the biggest paycheck of any female in the biz, and the buzz on the film, is that it will be the blockbuster to end all blockbusters...

now this novel, interstingly enough, a work of fiction, jumps to the George Herbert Bush, administration. (are you familure with historical fiction?) So, The former vice President, now Commander In Chief, has just raised taxes after a re-election promise of "Read My Lip's, NO NEW TAXES EVER!!", his approval rating is in the toilet, and he is suffering a mild case of depression.

While reviewing the archives, he has a revelation. American President's are most popular, when American's have a big bad enemy, with which to rally their hate toward. So, he decides in an instant that he needs a 'Hitler' for his administration.

As you know, G.H. Bush, was the head of the CIA for X number of years, before becoming Ronald Reagan's vice President. Thus establishing a numerus amount of relationships with foriegn powers. (a veritble cornicopia of 'Hitlertypes' to chose from).

So, President Bush, and his cabnet, concoct a television show, to put on for the American People. The Man he hires to play the villan in this production, is his old friend Saddam Huessan.

For a film production of this caliber, they needed the best of the best, to direct, which brings us back to our heroine, the hollywood diva.

The film they are working on is screeched to a halt. and the Director, disapears to work on the seceret project. She's a bold woman of the 80's/90's, and is livid at the loss of her film. She hires a private dick to do some digging.

This guy too, is the best, and he figures out the plot, traces it all back to the administaration. The title of this seceret production, you ask? OPERATION DESERT SHIELD... Part two OPERATION DESERT STORM. A magnificant display. But as wars go, the least blood ever spilled. (11 people died in Desert Storm, all from friendly fire, and/or helicoptor crashes. It was more like a demonstration of fire power. CNN broadcast Huessan's battle plans. Lots of speculation lots conjecture, but no real warfare to speak of...I digress)...

The film, which came out later, bared little to no resemblence to the real story in the book 'American Hero'... It was about a sexual scandal that the president wished to cover up... the film you probably guessed was 'Wag the Dog', with DeNiro, Hoffman, and other big name stars... Other than the part about, taking a director, and making a television war, the story was gone. By buying the rights, they effectivly killed this shocking revelation...

I realized something as I listened to the then still portly and drugged up Limbaugh, prattle on about Bill Clinton's behavioral problems...(the film obviously based on the current events of the current president)... It was not President Clinton, who had orchestrated this war... Saddam Huessan was barley a blip on the dial... no news reports, no mischief...with the exception of the aspirin factory bombing, and the occossional cry that he refussed to allow inspectors in to his plants... the despot, had disappeared...

America, didn't seem to notice...

We laughed at the same tired jokes for eight years. Bill Clinton was, in my oppinion, a bafoon. He was a running gag. A prat fall. He was Bozo the clown of the political world... his foriegn policy was attrocious... He never delivered one of his promises... but American citizens, and the world abroad for the most part loved him...the same way they love an actor that makes them happy with laughter.

He promised to get Al Gore elected... But we all know what happened in November of 2000...one year later... we were attacked ON OUR OWN TURFF, by a band of unaffiliated terrorists, who, supprisingly enough, were linked to Saddam Huessan...OH...there he is...

In october 2001, the mammoth 132 page law dubbed "The PATRIOT ACT", was rushed thru... only one senator voted against it. Since then average Americans' have been targeted as possible terrorists. There have been seemingly little change(according to a current local television news report) on the homeland security issue... "American's still don't feel safe enough". They can twist it any way they want. Safe? If you are one of the many being targeted for investigation, you may not even know it, they no longer have to notify you. The Freedom Of Information Act(FOIA) was ammended, and you MAY not even be entitled to your record. I will be going over many of the things laid out in The Patriot Act over the comming weeks. In retrospect, all this it makes's me wonder... George Herbert Bush said,'Read my lips', then followed it with 'No New Taxes Ever'...what did his lips say that his voice didn't?

The latest attempt at getting things kick started... my new(and first) blog. I can no longer sit in a river of wollow, bordem threatning to make me an addict of daytime soaps... it is here I will attempt to flow with clear reason, and make my inner voice heard(read). I am sure this will be a challenge too, as nothing seems to be easy in this preAppocolyptic grumble fooche.

No worries. Though time is short, my posts may not be...
